Please Don't Let Universal Health Care Reform Slip By
Organizing for America volunteers have done amazing work over the last couple weeks -- and the pressure is working. Congress is moving rapidly toward finalizing health care reform legislation, with crucial votes expected in both the House and the Senate within days. With so much at stake -- and the D.C. lobbyists going into overdrive -- we have to take our grassroots campaign to the next level.
So we're announcing the Health Care Reform Week of Action. All this week, OFA volunteers like you will be knocking on doors, making calls to neighbors, and attending public events to build the local support for health care reform we need to pass a strong final bill. If you can spare an hour or two for health care reform, this is the week to do it.
Things are moving quickly in Washington. Key committees in both the House and Senate have passed early versions of the bill that reflect the President's principles for real health care reform. We're making progress in large part because legislators are hearing from Americans who have waited far too long for reform.
But the opposition also knows how crucial this week is. That's why they're spending as much as $1.4 million every single day sending high-powered lobbyists around D.C. to hold back reform. Our best weapon against these insider tactics is publicly demonstrating support back home -- exactly what this week's actions are designed to do.
So please join us for the Health Care Reform Week of Action. As we get closer to final votes in Washington, we need to keep pounding the pavement, hitting the phones, and reaching out to the public every way we can.

Jen, and another national and international resorce in backing our president is Ed on The Ed Show on msnbc at 3pm and 12pm I gather on the east coast. This man has gone all out from our president like no other cable news network anchor all of this week. So far he has: had writers in from the Washington Post news paper who are busy writting about the people in congress who are getting the most money from the insurence lobby. They believe that this is a conflict of intrest of our congress while they ar e working on thsi health care reform bill. No, Not campaing money but, money. This receiving lobby money is given by name, committes and positions on said committees. It was sort of depressing expecially because we the voters put them in office...
today he talked about how he will be at our president's press confrence and he hopes to be called on, because he would ask the president why don't he talk about the 155% profit made by an insurance called United Health Care and showed the $millions and millions in bonus money to their CEO. The only reason for this kind of profit can only come from not paying our health care bills of their costmers!
He also had a guest today from the capitol of CAnada a Jack Layton the leader of Canada's New Democrat party who is here in Washington, D. C. to help stop this country from demeaning their health care system as the Republicans are doing! He explained of how our contrys are so close some cross the borders to see a doctor they like better as it is so close!
I do get ticled each time I hear about those in Canada coming here to see a doctor, but never how we cross their borders to get our medical perscriptions filled, because we can not afford to do it here in America(smile)but, this is politics.
Until tonight I was believing that Pelosi and company from our state did not want to come home any time soon to this broke state of California. This is until Ed and one of his guest after talked about the $1.3 million the lobby is spending on members of congress each and every day!!! Oh, well, but any way you might like to join me in watching Teh Ed Show on msnbc...it is worth it , but I warn you before hand about how I am learning more about how our government works in the real world than I care to know...
