MY RESPONSE TO IRMA'S PRIVATE MESSAGE ENTITLED "A QUESTION"
The officer in the Professor Henry Louis Gates arrest was doing his job -- up until he was provided proof that the professor did indeed live in the house. While it is in dispute exactly when the professor provided the proof, both sides agree that eventually proof was provided. Once that was provided, the police officer should have left. End of story, end of incident.
The police officer is the trained professional. He is the one who should have defused the situation. Instead, he called for back-up on a 5-foot-7, 150-pound, 58-year-old homeowner. I understand that Professor Gates may have been yelling, may have been rude, may have been a lot of things. But the main thing was that he was not was a robber. And he was in his own home. The professional police officer could have defused the situation by leaving.
And the character and judgment of the president should not be called into question. He, like most African-Americans, understands the position that Professor Gates found himself in. Unless you have been discriminated against your whole life, you do not understand the situation in the same way.
The one mistake that the president made was using the words "acted stupidly." He should have just said that the police in the incident made a mistake. And he has admitted that his choice of words was a mistake. But the message that he was trying to convey was not a mistake.
I hope that this incident sparks an honest open discussion on race in this country. Both sides need to listen and respect each other if we are ever going to truly move forward.

Hello,
I know there must be some significance about race, since race and religion respectively are the two cause 101% of world wars.
Therefore, could anyone please tell me, what is the purpose for the different races?
What say you?
