Ever wonder how far folks will go to work against the interests of minority communities?

Ever wonder how far folks will go to work against the interests of minority communities? Well, today we found out. A group in DC with ties to the Republican National Committee was caught sending letters to Congressman Tom Perriello's office, impersonating a local chapter of the NAACP and Creciendo Juntos (a Latino group). Their goal was to urge him to oppose clean enery legislation saying it would hurt low-income households.

Faking letters from Black and brown advocacy groups to oppose progressive legislation is illegal, unethical, and can't be tolerated. Thankfully, Rep. Ed Markey is launching an investigation so that the authorities and the American public can know just how far this scam goes. You can help by calling your representative in Congress and asking that they support Congressman Markey's investigation. This isn't the first time this has happened.

The firm, Bonner & Associates, has been caught doing this before--in Maryland in 2002--when they used an Black charity's name to oppose legislation lowering drug prices on behalf of their clients in pharmaceuticals industry.

While they won't name their client now, they have a history of working for companies in the Oil and Coal industry who want to make are we never see clean energy job legislation pass. This time they are targeting freshman Democrat, Tom Perriello, who has been a champion of clean energy jobs. Perriello has claimed that a good clean energy jobs bill will bring a needed economic boost to his district and to the country as a whole.

We have to stop this kind of deceit on behalf of special interests to gat the change this country needs. Will you call Rep. and tell him/her to support Ed Markey's investigation into this situaiton? We recognize it's late in the day. If it's already after hours, please try to call on Monday. http://www.house.gov/house/MemberWWW_by_St... (Representatives)
