WIPED AWAY BY THE NCAA!
The University of Memphis Basketball team wins for 2007-2008 was forfeited today. The season of 38 wins is all wiped away. The NCAA Committee forced the forfeit of the team record victories based on major violations which concluded that Tigers point guard Derrick Rose had a stand in to take his SAT test. Other charges included failure to monitor its charter travel system totaling $2,260 all unpaid. This will be second time the University of Memphis has been forced to vacate. First time being in 1985 under coach Dana Kirk.
Memphis Tiger Fans React.... They Want the Record Back!
Most Tiger fans are left unsettled, and are pointing the finger at the former coach John Calipari and Point Guard Derrick Rose. They have shown sincere disappointment, but are wishing for an appeal. It's a difficult decision and so fans are finding it difficult as well. Some fans have shown mixed reactions, and feel it's just another way to hurt a team that has proven they know how to fall and get back up. In a press conference today of the NCAA ruling confirmed its decision to strip the university of it's season wins and including the Final Four Appearance. At the time of this story no comment came from new coach Josh Pastner or R.C. Johnson, Athletic director.
