Former Giants Wide Receiver Plaxico Burress Pleads to Two Years in Prison

(Taylor Media Services) Sensational former New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress is headed to prison. His crime: He carried an illegal weapon into a New York City nightclub and accidentally shot himself with it. If the 31-year-old Burress had taken the case to trial and loss, he faced three an a half years prison time under New York’s strict gun control laws. Under the plea agreement, Burress accepted the two years in prison and two years of supervised release. When projected “good timer” is considered, he will probably be in jail for 20 months. Shortly after the November 2008 incident at Manhattan’s Latin Quarter nightclub, the Giants cut Burress from the team.
