Has anyone noticed that people that live in densely populated Asian countries like Japan, and china are wearing surgical masks when there is a threat of a viral outbreak?
Why is this not one of the things that we are being told to do for the on coming threat of swine flu this year? Many waitresses, cab drivers, and cashiers, whish they would say that they could ware Masks, dealing with customers all day, on a daily bases. some already ware gloves. This is one of those issues that I have with the system. Someone knows that this is a counter measure already in use by many. We have been told to wash our hands and stay home when you are sick. If you find your self in a confined space with a person that looks and sounds like they have the flu will be looking for something to cover up with. I think that this is a measure that we should adopt. This flu is especially dangerous because if you are already having a medical issue it will finish the job.
That being the case then you taking a chance with your life and the lives of other If you don’t wear the mask. This in addition to getting a flu shot, if you can. We need to take care of ourselves and try and weather Storms as they come.

I agree with you on this. In the hospital where I work, if patients present with any one of these symptoms: cough, temperature, or runny nose-sniffles, we put up a sign on the door of the room for people to wear masks and wash hands before and after contact with the person.
