WHERE HAVE ALL OF THOSE WHO BELIEVED WHAT THE CIVIL RIGHTS ' FIGHT AGAINST JIM CROW..

I had intended this as a subject for a blog: Race Baiting

But I think there are too many competing blogs, about just a few central ideas really. And I hate to see you depressed, Sister Irma, but you are not alone.

My contention is this, it is the media that is resurrecting Jim Crow, and they do this by race baiting.

Now you and I both know that segregation is of the past, and we are an integrated society now. And the only way we can go backwards is in our minds. This is the intent of race baiting.

I've been thinking about this because there is so much talk about racism. But the reality is that I do not see it in my personal life. I am not saying it does not exist, an example being the disproportionate number of black men in prison (not to mention the killings). But who the hell is Joe Wilson to divide us?

Race baiting, as opposed to racism, is the real issue in the media circus. Race baiting presupposes that some one will rise to the bait. But if we don't rise to the bait, we'll not be caught will we?

In the real world of most of us, including here on this site, we treat each other with respect. And it is not a false respect, but actually felt and believed. We need to fight poverty and lack of education, yes. We need to do this as individuals and not be put, or put ourselves in groups, but to deal with one another as individuals. In my personal life it is the individual I deal with and it is all good.

So let's not rise to the bait.

I agree that more black Americans need to be in the forefront, but I'm not one to downplay the importance of white Americans speaking out against racist and discriminatory practices. I applaud President Jimmy Carter for speaking his mind. I am also appreciative of Keith Olberman, the work he is doing to give us black Americans a voice on his show.

White Americans like Carter and Olberman are what I consider the new abolitionists. But rather than combating slavery, they are combating the misinformation that continues to drive a wedge between racial/ethnic groups. They are also trying to win over hearts and minds. Olberman has had a number of different black Americans on his show as special guests, and they tell it like it is. It is now time for us black Americans on the grassroots level to use this information to write the next chapter in the Civil Rights Movement.

If you ask me (and I know you didn't), I think we need to transition to a Collective Prosperity Movement. The fact that white Americans voted overwhelmingly for the black man is an indication that they are now willing to work with us black Americans on a prosperity agenda. Truth be told, race is becoming less significant (and it should) while class issues are becoming more prevalent. Thus, we have to end this trend of allowing the rich to get richer, the poor poorer. We also have to identify and integrate those Hubs of Influence that are still controlled by White America's Good Ol' Boy Networks.

Irma, I realize you have experienced a different reality than I have. Irma, the majority of things media you have spoken of I have no knowledge of. I quit watching the TV back when GB Sr. made war on Iraq the first time. I was at the peace march in SF and hardly a word was spoken of it, and when it was, it was a small sideline story with just a few protesters, maybe a thousand, But I was there and it was at least 10,000, if not 20,000. That was when I turned off my TV, and never looked back. The media cannot be trusted, only our day to day personal interactions, and unfortunately those are corrupted by the BULL**** being played. It would be a much different world if we all COLLECTIVELY turned off our sets and dealt withe the REAL world that could be if not for the manipulation.

Irma, what hope for the human race then? Is there prospect for peace, ever? Or will it forever be war? Well that is our common history. I will sleep on it.

Okay, now that all of you have had your say, how would the problems of Black Americans permanently be resolved? I noticed that no one has put forth a permanent solution.

What say you?

The group is always more important than the individual.

Irma, Harry has homed in on something though with the statement that the group is more important than the individual. I believe the opposite, that the individual is more important than the group. With the caveat that often what is good for the group is what is good for the individual. This country was founded on both ideals, the rights of the individual and the common good.

Harry believes also in racial purity, which has something to be said for it and I will not argue with anyone on that point. However, it is not my personal point of view. So here is the individual choice, we each may choose who we we wish to couple with, and we may end up with more or less pure races depending on all of these individual choices.

On another post you and Mozell corrected me to see people as individuals not as a group. But so much of the talk on this site is about the opposite, we are White or we are Black. The Whites put the Blacks in a group and then are racists. But the Blacks put themselves in a group and then are counter-racists.

So what I'm saying is this grouping is not productive. There are those in poverty, how can we help them. Those who lack health care, how can we help. Those who lack education, how can we help. Can we deal with these issues without grouping ourselves/others as Black or White?

On the subject of peace, I believe it is simple in concept, but difficult in practice. At the root of conflict is usually either economics or ideology. The one needs to be addressed by activism, the other by dialog. We can only as individuals engage in both. Depending on the level of individual engagement we may or may not achieve peace. History will tell.

In our engagement we should also look beyond our own borders. I have had further conversation with my friend in Togo. He is a student at the University of Lome. Here is his financial situation (I have converted from CFA francs to dollars). He receives $45 per term to go to school. This is what he lives off, I am waiting for his response to how many months per term. He pays $15.70 per month for rent, and $.68 per hour for internet access. On top of this of course are other normal living expenses. So if we think we have problems here...

It is my hope that this momentum improves the psyche of Black people to the point where they begin to look at how the assets they possess and that exist in Black communities can be galvanized to produce desirable outcomes. We spend so much time looking at our deficits. Our analysis of almost every situation gravitates to some negative. As I stated in another post at some point we have to begin to visualize ourselves as a people someplace other than the people on the bottom.

Black children are extremely brilliant. Yet, we send them to schools that do not appreciate their brilliance and is not prepared to do anything more but give them the dumbed down version of an education. The children who are excelling at these schools are teaching themselves outside of school. Their parents and mentors are not prepared to help them become the person of their dreams. We limit our encouragement to dreams we can afford like a basketball, city college tuition or a computer. C'mon you could take a vacation to where NASA, there are other things that are free like taking them into a court room to see what lawyers do or taking them to a hospital to see what doctors do. We could raise a generation of architects, engineers, doctors, scientists, etc. if we widen our scope and improve our collective self esteem. Say it loud, I'm Black and I'm Proud.

Also, I think Black people in America have gotten soft and forgot how to FIGHT for political and economic rights. I think the criminality and immorality in the Black community is as a direct result of the men (and women) not standing up and demanding more decent paying jobs and affordable insitutions of higher learning.

The reason so many Blacks are in the Middle class today is as a result of the fighting and struggling the poor Black people did in the 60s and 70s. They demanded that the government produce for them and give back. Another thing is, as long as Latinos and Asians continue to flood into the United States Black children aren't gonna stand a chance. This nation aint' big enough for EVERYBODY to come in and get a piece of the pie. We're gonna have to start uniting and looking out for our own best interests as a people.

We need to strategize then. To begin, what are our objectives. Second, what is the priority of our objectives? Third, how to achieve those objectives.

I do not believe that health care is the first objective, in spite of it being our President's As to how to achieve objectives, a web site where it is made easier for people to contact their representatives is something that works. For instance, here is a letter I received back from Senator Casey about the bill to audit the Fed. Of course, this is a form letter, just as the one I sent him from auditthefed.com. But it did get his attention, coming from so many:

As for me, my interest is to get the attention of Mark Lloyd trying to hurry him up in defining actual Discrimination over our public air waves ,so he can start handing out those $150 million a day fines that his division has been put into place to do. Fox is trying to get rid of Lloyd so bad until I believe he is on the job. I believe we need to keep him in the loop of what we see as an out and out lie, deliberate attemps to manipulate (not allowing their Democrat guest to say a whole sentence/ get their points across,etc.)the news by turning it into personal opinions and political leanings of the anchors as actual/real/honest news.

I believe the FOX is the one to concentrate on because of their mission statement of Fair and Balance news!!! I do know that Comcast cable pulled their ad from Glenn Beck after it was up for only one day and being bombarded over this from their actual coustmers!!!

So the cable providers can be a direct target to get help from. Right now some cable companies are facing financial problems of their own and the last thing they need is to be called before congress along with the Fox news networks.

Fox has already a record because they have just last year forced to go before congress for their behavior, and language.And, Sharpton is in New York at their head quarters still.And Fox's owner rupert Murdock gets sued from here in America to England on a regular basis. so far he has lost ever law suit over language used in his papers and his own mouth!!!!

And, what is your goal to help change in our government, congress, or what ever even if it is not political, we need to join to help make what is wrong in our country made rightfor and by the people...(smile)

Look at it this way. the Bush administration gave tax credits to the rich. Out sourced those jobs which if they had remained in America they would have had to rebuild their factory, work place to fit into not polluting as they were or be shut down. (or did you see any streeet rallies over loss of millions of jobs or even the harm to our children from those toys made in China and I did't???!!?)If you saw China after they had closed those factories down and one still could not see beyond the filthy air then you know what I am talking about. The politicians in Washington that have the public option already in their medical care, while they are dead set against the average citizen having is actually ILLEGAL...this is called DISCRIMINATION.

I will farther explain what I mean by this. When you single out a specific people to not have the same "civil rights" as you then you are discriminating against them!!!!!!!! 1. The fear of the unknow of after one dies, thus we have religions. And, we never pay any attention that what all religions have in common is dealing with life after this one!!!

I know they did not cover the peace march in Jena, La. the parts they covered was to have a Black token reporting a look at the march so thet they could talk about hose Kery would be talking about the march...Be proud of the media doing just what you expect and care for a few minutes on the media to be covered by White experts on the Black community!!!!but, then Jeffery you are just fine that the NAACP can go bury the "N" word as the media says wer should not say the word but only after candidate Obama had just said that that word was a part of our culturebing BIA in America...

Now steve as you live in Cal as do I you should be the LAst person to say that country is intergrated. We just got the first Black mayor. And, getting his was mostly because of the economy and our mayor before had not had anyone running against her!!!

If we are intergated in any wah then what does the name Broad way in Sccrimento mean, Davis, Ca.(sill having the police breaking up black students gathering in a grouP? WHAT DO YOU CALL the city of OAK PARK, intergrated or segragated?Why is Oakland, Black???!!?Oh, Oakland, Ca. did have a White mayor until he became our state's Attorney General and a former Governor in the Democrat majority state that has not Black senator in D.C???? What about all of the Black ONLY, White Only churches??!!!I speak now of where I live about 35 miles north of Sacramento!

Steve, once again I am trying to get one point across to one and all...
1. Racism. race baiting, prejucice, Conservative reportings/their subjects, I have no personal interest in. It is the fast almost oven night return to JIM CROW that has me worried! As a person of color I face racism each and every day(!!!!) as I have said before. I face racism,race baiting every time I turn on my: TV, look at the supreme court, weekly TV series. the Senate, the Whitehouse, my own people looking at the Clntons in only Black churches and there to prove that Mr. Obama's attending an intergrated church as being less than because his church teaches the same things that is being taught in our African-American study departments all over this country. to me it is worst than race bating, racism as it is the perfect thing to keep my people ignorant of what is really going on. The whole of the 60s was about these VERY things!!!!

Over looking Palin's all white rallies along with Bill Clinton's rally for his wife in those White Only towns in the south that are still upset over intergration!!!!And yet we over look when our president refused to turn against Rev. Wright. rev. Wright who taught our president that his life of suffering because his own family were unable to accept the color of his skin Our president was taught by him(but then maybe we are waiting to learn about this from a CNN BIA special) that going the drug(and by the way alcohol is an addictive drug!!!) route was not the way. The best way for our president to go was to restore his ties with the mother land was the way to do it!!!! Be proud of who he is as a human being!This is what gets to me , Steve...

2. Now that the Rev. Sharpton and Jackson have been fired for going to Jena, La to bring the attention to those ropes making a come back in the deep south so lets try to put a stop to this right now. Followed by those election ALL WHITE rallies, following Palin's lead of bring those assault rifles as a sign of pride, Rep. Joe Wilson now receiving millions and millions for disrespecting a Black president, rallies in Washington to call fro the exact reverse of what Dr. M.L. King was there to do along with going after ACORN when the only way our government admitted they knew about that drinking in Kabal because this is one of the reasons we are there for was to demean these peoples RELIGIOUS, CULTURE,etc. and eventhough they have know about this(for two years) which can potentially cause an out break of war and they are going after ACORN...not just ACORN but VAn Jones who is getting paid by the same person wo hired, see that those on FOX gets paid!!!rupert Murdock earns money every time one of Jones' book sells. Now what part of Jones' earnings are now going to pay glenn Beck, and Don Imus' salary!!!!!!

These are only a few of the things that has me ashamed to be a member of my race, right now.
And, here you are my brother Steve as one more White person speaking out about this abuse of our race...A WHITE PERSON, remember what i say in my blog about White person speaking for us????!!!

Now, Steve, I am I guess more angry and ashamed as the cause of my depression.(smile) I have spent a life time fighting this fight to give in now. My grand children in high school, college and kindergarden are counting on me to do every thing in my power to continue to fight against JIM CROW becoming the law of the land in America again!!!!!
