Grammy Award-Winning Singer, Johnny Mathis, Was Born In Gilmer, Texas On September 30, 1935.

A Star Athlete On The Track And Basketball Teams At San Francisco's George Washington High School, Mathis Earned Four Athletic Letters. In 1954, He Enrolled At San Francisco State University On A Scholarship With, The Intention Of Becoming An English And Physical Education Teacher.

Mathis Was Still A Teenager In College When He Was Discovered Singing In A San Francisco Nightclub In 1955. He Was Not Yet 21 When He Finally Arrived In New York City For His First Recording Sessions In 1956.

For More Than 5 Decades Mathis' Soft Tenor Voice Has Been Heard On Some Of America's Most Romantic Songs. Some Of Them Include: "Misty," "It's Not For Me To Say," "Chances Are," "Maria" And "Too Much, Too Little, Too Late (Duet With Deniece Williams"). He Has Also Performed With Dionne Warwick, Natalie Cole, Gladys Knight, And Nana Mouskour.

Johnny Mathis Was Inducted Into The Grammy Hall Of Fame, Which Is A Special Grammy Award Established In 1973 To Honor Recordings That Are At Least Twenty-Five Years Old, And That Have "Qualitative or Historical Significance."

LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT(smile)

I did fall in love with his voice before I ever saw him. But, I will never forget the first time we saw him on tv. my aunt oloked at him and said something is wrong with that man because he is just to damned pretty.LOL
