Calling All Nurses to join the fight for Health Care Reform

As nurses, we've seen the costs our health care system imposes on all Americans. But our special role in this system -- as caregivers of young and old alike -- means that we also have a special role to play in the debate over reforming it.

We've all seen and heard from those trying to distort the debate and mislead regular folks about what the President is trying to do, and what his plan would mean for us all. But we can help get the truth out by speaking out as nurses and writing a short letter to our local papers. I wrote one a couple of weeks ago -- it took very little time to write and submit it, and it was published just last week.

By writing a letter in support of the President's plan, you can use your unique credibility as a nurse to help shape the debate just as Congress and the press determine where they stand. Can you take 5 minutes to write a letter in support of reform today?

I know Sister Irma... it's a shame that these same people who can't afford health coverage have to be taxed out of the WA -ZOO to pay for public options for the people in Congress. It's a darn shame, but it's nice that some of us are coming together to do our part in the community and on behalf of the less fortunate ones.

This is just great Jen. For a moment I had forgotten your being a nurse. When I learned about the call for doctors and nurses in the states whose politicians are agains the public option/this health care reform bill to help hold a free week-end clinics is a beautiy also...such a wonderful push for equality in being treated the same as the politicians who themselves have a public option paid for by these very average peoples who can't afford health care under certain economic levels...YES WE CAN...thanks for tis post my sister.(smile)
