POLICE BRUTALITY IN NEW ORLEANS: MAN SAYS SHERRIFF'S DEPUTIES BEAT HIM
"He pepper sprayed me in the face and I just started yelling for help and i saw them closing in on me. Then the third officer who was out there came behind me and started choking me and telling me he was trying to put me to sleep," said Patrick George, who lives in Jefferson Parish.
George says he was slammed on the hood of a police cruiser and beaten with a billy club after deputies handcuffed him and tied his feet together.
"He hit me one last time which was a big flashing light and I had some ringing inside my head, so I was just laying there like I was knocked out and he said, 'How did that feel?'"
George says after about an hour the deputies took him to the Jefferson Parish jail, which refused to accept him. Prison medical staff insisted he go to the hospital instead.
The report tells a much different story than the one George tells. According to the report, George jumped out of his car yelling, attacked a deputy and tried to kick out a police cruiser window.
"Everything they say is a lie. They gonna say what they saying to make it seem like it's justifiable what they did, when I did nothing," said George.
The incident got the attention of radio DJ "Downtown" Leslie Brown, of hip-hop station Power 102.9 FM in New Orleans.
"When will the "good police" stop allowing these "bad police" to act out their racial fantasies on African Americans as if we don't have value. We are a disservice to the individuals who were beaten yesterday, this youngman just beaten and the many that will beaten in days to come." Brown, host of the "Good Morning New Orleans" talk radio show, was quoted as saying.
George, who does not have a criminal record in Orleans or Jefferson, admits he originally gave deputies a fake name and that he was driving without a license.
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office says it won't talk about an ongoing investigation, but did confirm George filed an internal affairs complaint against the deputies.

This is a damn shame!! But I can tell you from first hand experience that Jefferson and Orleans Parish Deputies do not give a damn if you are black or white! These policemen, if I can even call them "police", because they are cowards, do hide behind the uniform. These guys think they put on these uniforms and they can do what ever they want to people. And it seems like they are getting away with it too. It is really sad when you don't feel safe with the police around anymore. Shame on them!
