Hampton's first white Homecoming Queen facing racism

Someone should tell those Negros that we should lead by example. This whole situation is asinine and takes us back 100 years. HBCUs stands for HISTORICALLY Black -- not EBCU -- EXCLUSIVELY Black. If we want equality we have to GIVE equality. We'd all be marching and doing TV interviews if, say, oh, an Ivy-league university's White student body booed and heckled a Black queen. Double standards aren't going to cut it in the 21st century.

BTW, I agree w/you on the Al Sharpton video, but LEAVE JESSE ALONE ... Al just makes JJ look bad.

Although what she is experiencing women of color have been dealing with for far more years than many of us have been born, but two wrongs don't make a right. I don't see this as taking us back to anywhere especially when too many people of color are still waiting to just be accepted despite skin tone and not tolerated because of skin tone.

I also agree with you Mrs. Irma, what does Rev. Al or Jessie have to do with this particular blog "nothing" and for the record. Al does not make Jessie look bad, Jessie does a fine job accomplishing that on his own.

First what the hell does Al Sharton and Jesse Jackson got to do with this contest? How can we get to the root of issues if we keep mixing them up? This is a simple beauty contest. When you have a beauty contest you have beautiful women period. And the ladies whom make the finals are all flawles beauty wise so they judge on other traits a girl may possess like charm, skils, talent, compassionate to others, intellect and etc.

Does it say Blackwomen aren't beautiful because a white girl can win at a black beauty affair? No.

But obviously this was done to show some solidarity with white organizations whom have awarded the prize to Black Ladies whom outshined even though they did so relunctantly.

I can see the outcry but some Blacks because there's really not alot of places Black women can recieve their fair shake in beauty contests. That's why we must remain independent because no one will treat us better than us.

Well maybe someone should try and get this young lady to try and learn something about Black history, say like it took hundreds of years for us to get "A FIRST"!!!!?!?

They should put in a time capsule to be opened in say about 300 years as it should not take the White race longer than that to get back as the MAJORITY RACE(smile

And, thank you sister Marquerite, But, I do give Al Sharpton credit and respect, he unlike Jackson does not jump when he is told to do so. Jackson does seem to sell out when he is told to do so. It seem his son is about to run into a litle trouble as the right-wingers are trying to accuse his son of making promises to the Ill. governor if he would give him Mr. Obama's seat in the Senate. I know for my self that Jackson Jr. has got to be much smarter than to do something as dumb as this...

And, speaking of Venessa Williams, the night she won her title this lady said that she could not be Black, because she has gray eyes!LOL Then they tried every thing they could to get her crown taken from her. But, this was a young lady who was not looking to find an identity, she knew exactly who she was...YES WE CAN..
