Know4LIFE's Note: Obesity is a major problem to any nation, it poses a major problem to the Black community in America. They are many reasons for obesity in the Black community. Among them are: economic (poverty), laziness (lack of physical activity), (dietary) ignorance, residual affects of slavery, ie a slave diet, and mental illness (this is caused by a number of things: abuse, neglect, etc. The result is poor self esteem, and depression which leads to a form of addiction and escapism. The cure: Seek refuge in Allah (God) ie put your trust in God and not man (or woman), exercise (get out the house, turn off the TV, computer and video game) , become involved in charitable work (help others), and read: How to Eat to LIVE -

Putting a trust in a deity isn't a prerequisite to weight control. Stop saying that. Nor is there any effect from slavery. That's about the most senseless thing I've read on this site. And I've read some DOOZIES.
The typical Black just needs to find a sport they enjoy and like the Nike slogan, 'JUST DO IT'. Take up tennis, biking, or swimming ... even jogging beats nothing. Most Blacks would rather go for a 'walk'. But, unless you're walking briskly enough to break a sweat, you're not going to shed one pound. Sorry to break it to you. But there's a reason laziness is closely associated w/obesity.
And lastly, stop w/the BBW BS. Stop glorifying THICK CHICKS. Fat is not beautiful. Late.
