Wizard of Oz..One of Greatest Story ever TOLD...Wonder Why ?

Since you and I are were little children, we were exposed to the Movie, Wizard of OZ. The story is filled with action, suspense and magic....all the things that make for the curious mind. But, why year after year, is it shown. And why does the story extend beyond race, gender or wealth. It is because in Dorothy's need to get Home was overwhelming, worthy of encountering the wrath of a wicked witch. Only to find that behind the management and control of the land of OZ was one man. The land of Oz had food, animals, people, buildings and prosperity and in charge all of it was again, ONE MAN. There has never been another story so compeling and intriguing. His rule had much to do his mastery of science...as evidence by his ability to construct a flying balloon and steer it to a distant land.

While I don't subscribe to hollywood for lesson planning, this story does bring home an important point. That what society has sought after be it a car, home, tools, machinery, phone and more more....man ..skilled in various sciences have designed and built these things. Yet, when it comes to characteristics of Heaven as described by Christian doctrine, Black Americans are expecting some spook to deliver, when historyically it has never happened that way. Necessity is the mother of invention. Now, there is a necessity for Black Americans to have their own government in their own land. While one may expect more mysteriously force to come down from the sky....after you get close enough to how things happen, one discovers the same thing that Dorothy discovered...that it is Man...behind the solution...and in fact it is man behind almost everything we see before our eyes. This is why the American establishment does all it can do to defame and deglorify the significance of the black man unless he is engaged in something useless like singing, dancing and playing sports. But the American Experience has made Black Americans and indeed the black male potentially capable of running their own government including developing a quality of life for all its citizens as evidence by have the 1st black president of a major nation in the free world.

If you analyze the title, you'd find the Wizard of Twelve.

Now, why h as theWizard of Oz been in my spirit lately. I was recently so stressed with healthcar reform work that I forced myself to take a little r/r weekend at my sisters.

When she clicked through movies for meto watch, I kept saying to her, "No. Nothing that requires my brain to work. I just want something fun and soothing." Well, bingo! She found the Wizard of Oz and I jumped on it. Now, I found a wholenew and different meaning this time when I watched ole Dorothy.

The WOO was very comforting to the mind. It was very spiritual in meaning to me by the characters' symbolizations. Yes, we all need to visit Oz from time to time and it will take us back to our innocent, stress-free days as children and we have permission to start all over by following the yellow brick road.

Hey, this is what I discovered watching WOO this time as an adult: Dorothy dropped the apple when she met up with Scarecrow and they began to follow the yellow brickroad. We know in many fairy tales, the apple is "poisonous." We know that Eve did that horrible thing of making Adam bite the apple after God told him not to eat of it. Thus, they were on a righteous path of being saved.

Of course, the W symbolizes God to me who is in control of everything and everybody even satan can't stand a chance of overpowering God, but satan is allowed to roam the earth (wicked witch). We have Jesus and Angels to steer our righteous path (Good Witch) and to get home (heaven) we need a hot air balloon that God controls. "But we gotta believe..."

Ok, I might have really stretched this but it made for a comforting, soothing, worry-free evening. Oh, and don't Ddiana Ross and Michael Jackson's WOO, too. I can't easily remember the details and maybe Helen means the 12 Apostles. !!!-LOL
