COPPERTONE POLITICS: by KAREEM ABDUL JABBAR, HUFFINGTON POST Jan. 12, 2010.

IT’S REALLY INTERESTING HOW THE CONSERVATIVE MOVEMENT HAS JUMPED ON HARRY REID’S RACIAL OBSERVATIONS REGARDING BARACK OBAMA’S CANDIDACY. THEY FEEL THAT REID MADE SOME TYPE OF FAUX PAS.

Senator Reid was making a candid observation about racial attitudes in America. For many Americans, dark skin and the Negro dialect are a definite negative when considering a political candidate. Those attributes are associated with all of the negative stereo types of blacks that have become part of America's history.

The conservatives are trying to say that those statements by Reid are the equivalent to Trent Lott's praise for the racist segregationist presidential campaign of Strom Thurmond. There is no rational way that speaking about racial attitudes that have been in play since the beginning of our nation is the equivalent of endorsing a racist presidential candidate.

But the conservatives insist it's a match. Go figure. I hope Mr. Reid continues to lead the Dems successfully. The conservatives will continue to live in their fantasy world.

"The conservatives will continue to live in their fantasy world."

This is what Irma has been saying over and over again and she keeps asking for media figures and commentators to get the message across. So here is one more voice of reason to contribute to the conversation. Kareem ABdul jabbar remains one of the most respected voices in America--and one of the TALLEST!!!

thank you again Richard,

Since 1968 I have had the Honor of knowing and praying with one of the Tallest Believers in the World. He also has one of the Greatest Intellectual and Social Minds that America has produced and finally;
HE IS THE GREATEST BASKETBALL PLAYER OF ALL TIME.

I pray The Creator has mercy on my dear friend.

Dear Robert:

i agree totally.

I am almost embarrassed to admit this since it will give away my age--but I remember being a fan of his when he was a high school phenom here in New YOrk at Power Memorial. That was back in the days before electric lights, i think.

He has always been a thoughtful man of great dignity and presence--whether he could play basketball or not. When he has something to say, we should all listen!

Today's New York Post, was another stab at Black America, the sarcasm, tongue in cheek references, ex: a reader said that Obama is not Black enough to be considered black and light enough to be acceptable, but not white..that is a reference that Black Americans themselves have uttered since the masters began to play footsies with the female slaves and the offspring got the plum jobs in the master's house..why anyone believes that racism is not on the top agenda of this country...has to be attributed to what part of the country they live in..it is alive and well and consuming the average "white" person." White " conservatives are bullying, taunting and reminding their brethern, to "stick together at all costs."

Today's New York Post, screams.."Obama why do you hate us?" well that is to feed the fear that "whites" have that black people are out to get them..the other day it was the "Cadillac" tax on unions, then the issue of holding the trial for the Guantanamo Bay detainees in New York, who is still licking their wounds from the World Trade Center attack.

It's all a diversion...and the Conservatives have a lot of money...witness: the Rev. Warren raising over 2 million dollars to reduce a $900,000.00 dollar debt at his church..(He delivered the prayer breakfast at Obama's Inaugural)..Rushie and his $400 million dollar pocketbook..and Mr. Rupert Murdoch allowing the use of this newspaper to stokes the fires of division and hatred..it's so evident that I actually got sick reading the paper..and then asked myself why am I putting myself through such misery. Mr. Jeremiah Wright? they are waiting ..Rev. Sharpton? any comments? The conservative's extreme right is well aware there is no black LEADERSHIP..what does Mr. Jabbar have to do with the original post?????? only mention he got in the Post is that he was at the "Blue Smoke" Restaurant in NYC for dinner and jazz with an ASIAN lady...what?? sometimes I wonder..

Richard-Marta,

I apologize, I got us off on Kareem.

Back to our Blog, Good and Bad, Sunshine and Rain, ying and yang---
The Old Animal, that was whiteSupremacy, is slowing retreating into a corner and there will be plenty of scratching and biting---
But the Power of Our President Baraka Hussein Obama is SO FAR over the heads of the OLD.
He has been around us only 1 year, and 3 MO years are exciting to think about.
We Americans are SecularDemocrats who believe in Majority Rule and 50.009% is majority...............

Our Leader is only 49-50 years old, if we like him after November 1,2012---
We will elect him another 4 years-----
By then His work and progress will outshine the NOOOOERRRRS.

rev. anything in my book is a farce just like 'black' leadership---you got to go down and exert a lot of force before you go into orbit...

you got me rambling girl, but I love to read your words.....

My only complaint is President Obama and Michelle should Have a Child----
