Where do you stand on health care?

Where do you stand on health care?

Today, the debate over health care reform includes, among other issues, the question of cost. Frequently people who get care but who don’t have adequate insurance coverage literally lose their shirts as they go bankrupt trying to pay catastrophic medical bills.

I hope that health care reform comes to America. Because if Levitical priests in the Old Testament were concerned enough to protect their poor from losing everything in exchange for care, why can’t we do as much today for the people who potentially have everything to lose?

Hello Mr. Warren,

Does it make a difference for Black Americans?

Tell me what you think.

Since Black Americans are disproportionally affected by a lack of adequate health care options, yes, I believe the outcome of the health care debate will make a huge difference for us as a group. That's why I find it difficult to understand why some people try to separate the issue of addressing the needs of Black Americans from the health care debate, i.e., Tavis Smiley and Dr. Cornell West, who say President Obama is ignoring the black agenda. The reality is, health care is a major part of the black agenda, or should be and President Obama is justified in pursuing health care reform. Having it will benefit all Americans, including Black Americans.
