Is Zionism Biblically Correct? [Disclaimer: This Isn't An Attack on the Jewish Community]

I joined this e newsletter some years ago before I really understood what the purpose and cause. It's called Flashfloods and it appears to be a Zionist movement to help Jewish people in the diaspora get back to Israel. I pray for the peace of Jeruselem as well as I know that the Christian Bible speaks of Jewish people returning to there homeland, but exactly how this is to happen is questionable. I was reading one of the e newsletters that I get and I wondered if it was ethical for Americans to send money for the continued building of settlements in Israel at the expense and suffereing of anothe group of people? [...Christians have a long history of supporting the return of Jews to the Holy Land prior to Zionism...]

What are your thoughts? I'd like to know...

Dear Jen:

My first thought is that you have an amazingly wide and broad area of interests!

Here is my second thought--anybody who has extra funds to donate--the people in Haiti need it right now more than anyone.

And I agree with President Carter on this one. This is one of the most enduring problems in the history of the world. The cycle of pain just keeps rolling on and on with no end in site.

If the people in the MIddle East want to put an end to the decades long reign of terror and death, there are two bottom-line absolutes:

1. The Palestinians need a viable independent homeland.
2. The Israelis' need to know that their neighbors will not try to obliterate them.

Easier said than done. But unless those two things happen, that part of the world will remain in misery.

It looks like I'm leaning heavily on the side of staying on the fence with one foot towards Israel and the other towards Palestine as I continue to sort out the facts on this matter. Watching programs on other networks besides American news outlets allows me to see things that I wouldn't be able to see on American news stations.

Brother Rich,
I guess watching and trying to understand what's going on in other places in the world besides Black in America forums gives me a broader view of life and the world. Like for instance, I was watching a BBC documentary a while back on the fence that separates the Palestians from freely moving through Israel and although I understand the reason Israel said they put the fence up, I don't think it brokers any chances for REAL peace.

Brother Clark,
Meanwhile Americans keep sending money to Israel and I'm not sure that these are the people who need the money the most right now as Brother Rich alluded to . I wonder if the average American let alone Christian knows anything about how the money is used? Probably not...

Jen:

Clearly, you are a fair minded person who always tries to see both sides of the story. Sounds like our President!

This is one of the most intractible explosive problems in the world today--and I am sorry to say, I don't see any solution to it!

I don't know if you are into prophecy Brother Rich, because I heard through an inside source that there would be an African American Woman President coming to these United States of America?! {God says, "Some will say, 'Now will there ever be another African in the White House?' Yes, there will be another. It shall be an African American woman whom I shall raise up to stand in office and you...

When should I run for a local office and what area do you recommend first? Perhaps I should start with the Catholic School Council at my kid's school and then the school board? Please I need to start now so that the politicians in Washington don't accuse me of having no experience!!!

There is no "Z" in the Hebrew Language................

zionism is like racialism, like slavery, like genocide, like apartied, like--
why would europeans boil and burn 6 million of their friends, neighbors, and business associates....

Now that's a good question... why would they burn their brothers? It's something that I will never understand. Why can't we all just get along, eh?
