I joined this e newsletter some years ago before I really understood what the purpose and cause. It's called Flashfloods and it appears to be a Zionist movement to help Jewish people in the diaspora get back to Israel. I pray for the peace of Jeruselem as well as I know that the Christian Bible speaks of Jewish people returning to there homeland, but exactly how this is to happen is questionable. I was reading one of the e newsletters that I get and I wondered if it was ethical for Americans to send money for the continued building of settlements in Israel at the expense and suffereing of anothe group of people? [...Christians have a long history of supporting the return of Jews to the Holy Land prior to Zionism...]
What are your thoughts? I'd like to know...

Dear Jen:
My first thought is that you have an amazingly wide and broad area of interests!
Here is my second thought--anybody who has extra funds to donate--the people in Haiti need it right now more than anyone.
And I agree with President Carter on this one. This is one of the most enduring problems in the history of the world. The cycle of pain just keeps rolling on and on with no end in site.
If the people in the MIddle East want to put an end to the decades long reign of terror and death, there are two bottom-line absolutes:
1. The Palestinians need a viable independent homeland.
2. The Israelis' need to know that their neighbors will not try to obliterate them.
Easier said than done. But unless those two things happen, that part of the world will remain in misery.
