“Great Gathering” Brings Black Churches To SC
Below are the concerns of for the Great Gathering. This, Great Gathering will culminate in a video address by President Obama tomorrow.
Columbia, SC—The nation’s three largest Black Methodist churches have gathered in Columbia for a summit entitled the “Great Gathering.”
It’s the first meeting of the African Methodist Episcopal, African Methodist Episcopal Zion and Christian Methodist Episcopal churches in more that 45 years.
“We couldn’t wait any longer,” said Rev. George McKain, Public Affairs Director for AME Zion Church.
The three churches have a combined membership of more than 5 million people.
The three-day event will include seminars, panel discussions and worship services aimed at addressing the key issues facing African-Americans.
Organizers hope the summit can bring the three churches together to create a united message.
“We will leave here as one body of Methodists determined and committed,” said McKain, “to do greater things and do some new things to stay relevant and to be able to make an impact for the needs of today.”
The summit will also focus on identifying and seeking solutions for the problems facing young African-American males.
“The family, the community, the church, the school, the African American young male has come out as a target in each one of those and several of our presenters (have) studied this and worked on this for years,” said McKain.
“Jawanza Kunjufu, out of Chicago, IL, wrote 30 years ago (about) the conspiracy to destroy black boys and we’re seeing it.”
McKain says the rates for school achievement for young black men are lower and the rates for incarceration are higher than those among other demographic groups.
He says organizers hope the summit can help to present a more positive image African-American youth.
Dr. Kunjufu is scheduled to speak at the summit on Tuesday.
Other presenters include and Children’s Defense Fund founder Marian Wright Edelman and Princeton Professor and author Dr. Cornel West.
McKain says the churches will try to encourage young people to overcome their personal challenges and teach them to prepare for greatness. “It starts with having a dream, it starts with having a vision (and) restoring hope,” he said.
“I don’t care how bad the level or how low the level of despair that someone finds themselves in, be it health, economic (or) whatever. You can overcome and that’s what we teach.”
Organizers expect between 5,000 and 10,000 people, from around the nation and the world, to attend the summit.
Below is my comment to the AME Church.
Hello,
I applaud all who came together in the interest of Black Americans. We are not African-Americans. Again, I applaud all of you seeking to find a permanent solution to save our male children from destruction inherent in this society for them.
Inherent within me is our only divine permanent solution as was inherent within Moses was the Children of Israel only divine permanent solution as well. Since you all are God-fearing people and have knowledge of the Scriptures it should not be difficult to understand me.
Our circumstances are found only in the book of Exodus. Consequentially, God had set precedents in the case of Moses as to how Black America’s circumstances would be dealt with as well, am I right. Now, in comparison and contrast to the book of Exodus our situation mirrors the Children of Israel, am I right. Therefore, Black Americans have precedents set down by God to observe and follow that gives us an insight as to how our situation is going to turn out, am I right.
Now, the first precedent of God was the anointing of a prophet to the Children of Israel. So, do Black Americans have a prophet yet? I know that we do have a prophet. Let us understand that the Children of Israel’s Elders and wise men could not solve their problem of bondage and slavery, am I right. Likewise, no Black Americans whether he is Rev. George McKain, Dr. Jawanza Kunjufu or Professor Dr. Cornel West could permanently resolve our divine problem since they are not anointed of God as Moses was and as I am. Am I making any sense?
So, let me begin first for the purpose of the conference.
The AME church is trying to save the male child of Black Americans from destruction of this society. Inevitably, you are dealing with a sophisticated form of birth control that Pharaoh wanted to institute on the Children of Israel through the midwives, am I right. So, this should tell you that Black Americans are in bondage and slavery in this country as the Children of Israel were in Egypt.
I am Black America’s first genuine prophet. No one except me could solve our problem. Our permanent solution is to desire to become a sovereign people or have complete independence from White America who is our relatives on a portion of this continent that we could call our very own country with borders to pursue life, liberty, happiness and prosperity in our own way.
All that is required of us is to desire to become a sovereign people and recognize who I am since God hand is only on me. Perhaps, I may sound crazy to you but I am not. I would suppose that Moses had sound crazy to the Children of Israel as well. Likewise, all that was required of the Children of Israel was that they should desire to Exodus Egypt and recognize who Moses was, am I right. It took Moses 20 years before any positive results of cooperation began to surface. When the Children of Israel began to accept Moses was when God kicked in, and I right. The same will happen for us.
When God anointed me God firmly said that Moses was my sign as the staff and his leprosy hand was Moses signs. Am I making any sense with you? God is constantly inspiring me since I was first formally anointed. It is a personal thing as God anointed of Moses was also personal. Moses explained his experience as a burning bush. My experience was different. Everything that I say is going to happen.
White America will be hard pressed, but they will be happy for our sovereignty.
