SHOOTING HOOPS! WOMEN IN THE HISTORY OF BASKETBALL
If you haven't been keeping up with women's basketball, then you haven't seen the Conneticut Women's Team --The Huskies shooting their hoops to 71 straight victories and counting. Women love basketball! In the last few years Women's Basketball in the WNBA has gained national and world attention. It's wonderful to see woman run up and down the basketball courts. High school players have in addition been breaking ground too!
Let me highlight one of our Women in History players. It's been a little time but the name Nancy Lierberman may strike a ball! Nancy played in WNBA 's season in 1997 and then went on to become head coach in1998. However, basketball for women started way back in the 1800's. Ridiculed by many, basketball was considered a "man" only sport. Of course, since then women can say "We've come a long way baby!" Now women basketball stars are becoming household names. Women excel in college and professional basketball today. So watch the WNBA PLAYOFFS! Support your local school's Women's Basketball Team during this special women's week and all throughout the month of March. See them SHOOTING HOOPS! It's a score!
Have you been watching that Conneticut Women's Team! They are AWESOME!
