CRY!
A GREAT CITIZEN AND CIVIL RIGHTS ICON DIES

News from the death of a great life of former Civil Rights activist and leader Benjamin Hooks brought a cry! For some Memphians it was sad cry, others a cry of remembering a great man. Hooks has reasons many will cry nationwide. He has contributed many works for the the contributions of civil rights for all races. Hooks had received many prestigious awards during his lifetime. He was also known for showing characteristics of caring and promotions of a positive figure.
Recently, he'd retired from minstry. Hooks died overnight.

Who will be the next Shelby County Mayor...Lead candidates were presented to debate about issues concerning the next mayor seat in Shelby County. Three canditates took it to the tube in a debate sponsored by a local news station and newspaper. Top candidates John Ford, Otis Jackson, Jr., and Deidre Malone. The debate had questions of what will be the things the new mayor would do during the serving term. Candidates spoke of their experience and ability to take on the the job.

Maybe...the debate was a way to cry out Get out and Vote! That's a debate all could agree on!

CELEBRATE!
MULTI-CULTURAL FEST!

The University of Memphis celebrated a multi-fest. Students and visitors danced, shared food and customs from numerous cultures around the world. African dance and dishes of festive foods. What a multi celebration!

Okay, I'm done with stories..It's been an interesting day.

I wasn't born in Memphis, but I love living here-- since I spent most of my childlife to adult life here, it's home. I try to devote positive stories although as with every city larger or about the size of Memphis we have news that I prefer to look over and find those little diamonds of good things. Overall, Memphians are very friendly people. There's no place like HOMETOWN MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE...SMILES

MIISRAEL, as related to the saying how one can not see the forest for looking at the trees...

although we may live in a small town / large city, we still too often never pay close attention to just how much of a gem things like this are. (smile)
