You Learn More As You Grow Older

Candice Johnson · Tuesday, May 4th 2010 at 3:27PM · 4040 views
I haven't been on here in a while, and I remember posting so many blogs. I now look back and see how my perspective about what used to be important to me is no longer a concern.

What I want out of life is to truly be at peace within myself and to learn all that I can so I can pass my knowledge to help anyone who needs it. Does anyone else feel the same way?

What do you feel is important to you now?

Doesn't it feel like this world is passing by so fast that our values that was once held dear to the older generation, is being thrown out the window?

One thing I do know is that I must first look within myself before I can pass sound judgment.

This is encouraging!!! YOU LEARN MORE AS YOU GROW OLDER.

Hopeful for us older folks.

i think everybody wsants the same thing--to be at peace. The problem is the ways we think we can find it. Usually, they bring the OPPOSITE of peace and make things more riloed up than they already are.

Most of the time, we would be better off if we changed the direction where we were looking for happiness.

I appreciate how you see your own happiness throgh serving others. jIn my opinion, that is the only way we can be truly happy--to make others happy.

Good luck, Candice--I hope you find what you are looking for!!!

Thank you so much Richard for the kind and encouraging words. Life is definitely a journey that is full of twists and turns, but it is to teach us the true meaning of life.

Sister Irma,

I think Sister Candice had what's called a moment of reflection. I agree with Candice that life is a journey with many twists and turns. For me the true meaning of life is in helping others afterall no man is an island.

Amen to that!!!

A teacher of mine gave me this advice and it has stayed with me all through my adult life--and I found it to be true and a worthy philosophy to live by.

He said: "FIND YOUR HAPPINESS IN THE HAPPINESS OF OTHERS."

That makes it so easy to find happiness !!

Hi Irma, How are you? This was just a reflection piece with questions addressed to the reader.

That is so true Candice, you do learn more as you grow older.

Hint to the wise: WHAT DON'T KILL YOU WILL ONLY MAKE YOU STRONGER (LOL)!

Wonderful comments by all. Causes me to think about those days when I was a young gladiator. Remember coming out of college thinking that the world has never seen a person, an opinion, a thought such as mine. Extraordinarily confident, I believed that I was a step ahead of the fastest comet. Then the tough lessons of life took hold and I learned that learning never ends. I tell young people this all the time. Always remember that you're never smarter than the oldest person in the room. It is that person - no matter background, education, economic status, race or religion - that has done more, heard more, seen more, lived more, experienced more than you can imagine. Always respect the past, embrace the present, and look forward to the future.

Thanks Carl for the comment. You are so right because I love my elders. They have great stories to tell.

Hi Candice, glad to see you back. But, you have me a little confused...are you happy or are you sad ?!? Are you giving an answer or are you asking a question?!? (smile)

Thanks, Jen and Rich and Candice. I believed as I read your blog that it was about doing some soul searchings. Here are two things I so love...

1. Lessons of life leads to wisdom.
2. Life is a process of forever changings.

Candice, you have choosen the best path...trial and error, because our mistakes are what helps us to grow, to become wiser and better prepared for the future. (smile)

Thank you so much Carl, because I believe that once we learn and accept what you just said as true, we are on the only way left for us to go and that is straight U-P!!!

LIFE IS GOOD...(smile)
