First Ever Online Directory of African and African American Baby Names
Nearly 200,000 babies are born everyday, and of that number at least 25,000 are of some kind of African descent. This site not only helps expecting parents find and choose the right names, but it also helps them to preserve the legacy of their ancestors.
Created by the National Registry of Black Baby Names, the site lists nearly 5,000 popular and distinct names, and beside each name is it's very own unique meaning. The names vary in origin, pronunciation, and style. Some are African, Chinese, French, English, and even Czech.
The site is truly one-of-a kind, and a satisfying answer to what Black parents have been requesting for years.

Hello Ms. Jen,
It is amazing to me how shallow minded we Black Americans are. I have mentioned repeatedly that Black Americans are not African people. I thoroughly explained it that no one said that I was wrong. I said that Black Americans are the people that resulted when English people mostly of British descent bred themselves with the African slaves they brought from the slave traders during the time of slavery.
Yet, you persist in believing that we are African people. What is wrong with you Ms. Jan?
We, as a people do not think at all. We do not try to figure out anything and it is not that we have not the brains to do it. We just do not do it. Why is that in these modern days Ms. Jen?
Another thing about us is that we do not want anything of our own. Why is that so, Ms. Jen?
I will tell you this. God came to me and showed me 41 million dry bones. God asked me, Harry could these bones live? I looked at the bones and saw how try (ignorant and shallow minded) they were. I turn back to God and said, “Only you know, Lord if those bones could live”.
Again this Jen, Black Americans are not Africans. We need our own names. We need our own space on this continent on this earth. We need to desire to have something that we can call our very own. Am I crazy to want for Black Americans the same as what Moses wanted for the children of Israel?
Check this out, I had been talking to a Christian friend of mines at the YMCA today. Incidentally, it does not matter what we say we are, we are 41 million ignorant people, am I right. I am telling you this to illustrate how ignorant of a people that we are because we do not use our brain to figure out things. He (James) was making a point to me that all the prophets came to teach of eternal salvation. He wanted to overshadow my point to accept God or for to become a sovereign people. He said that he did not care about a country. He cared about eternal salvation. Anyway, I quickly said that, Moses did not teach of eternal salvation. God anointed Moses to lead the children of Israel out of bondage and slavery in Egypt.
So, it baffles me that James having seen the story of Moses every year around Easter and does not understand the story.
So, again, I said, Lord only you know if those (Black Americans) dry bones could live. Ms. Jen, are you among those dry bones? Do you understand my metaphor?
Tell me what you think.
