Biracial child banned from class beacuse of hair care product?????
An eight year-old girl who is the only African American in the advanced placement class has been kicked out of class because of a product she applies to her hair. I saw the link and I listened to it, but honestly I'm lost. It appears that the issue is more about how the school handled the situation and less about the little girls' hair care product.
The teacher and school should do some damage control and PR to backtrack the way the incident was handled. Also the teacher should have provided some documentation from her dermatologist that shows with absolute certainty that the product contains ingredients that she (the teacher) is sensitive to and made a call to the parent's of the child or spoken with the parent directly.
In any case, the delicate situation wasn't handled as well as it should have been.
