I love R&B, Hip-Hop, and Reggae music. I have loved Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" long before Rihanna performed it on television for the Hope For Haiti fundraiser.

For some strange reason I can't seem to get Alicia Keys song "Unthinkable" out of my head. Maybe it's because the song is so close to what's going on in my personal life at the moment. But the song's been lingering there for about a month now (LOL).

I like lots of music! I listen to tons of stuff! I particular love "Old School Music" but I enjoy rock, reggae, punk-funk, gospel and pop...even some raps I enjoy. Then the classics they give me such up-lift to tranquility. I write a lot of poetry to string and piano. I have a collection of different artists. I listen to celtic sounds and I perform to very dramatic opera music and singing. I have a few performances coming up in July and August and I'll use some of any of the music I've mentoned. I'm surrounded by musical sounds almost everyday. So much. I like Alicia Keys...she has a touch of Marvin Gaye sound to me only she's a female. Bob is a classical musician none like him to this day.

I love old school R&B just as much as the new school R&B. My mother and I are big Sade and Anita Baker fans. And I love me some Aretha and Ms. Patti!

MIISRAEL Bride Saturday, June 12th 2010 at 6:51PM

YeOW! Anita music is mellow..and Patti she's slam! There's so much music in the world. If we'd just take a little time to listen it's so connected.

As far as rap goes, Salt and Pepa are my favorite female rappers. I remember back in school when all my friends wanted their asymetrical haircut. I said no, I was crazy about them but not THAT crazy! I miss Lauryn Hill and hope she makes a comeback. I love some of Tupac and Biggie's music. And Will Smith's "Summertime" is a classic during our local youth basketball games. I still like to watch his show.

MIISRAEL Bride Saturday, June 12th 2010 at 7:16PM

I like Salt and Pepa too! "Don't go chasing waterfalls...." was a super hit in my book. Although lot's of people liked "Scrubs" I understand they are trying to move on with a comeback, I'm sure they miss their other partner very much.

I still like Phil Collins..."I can feel coming in the air..tonight ...Oh Lord."...That's an endless song! I first heard on the televison show Miami Vice.. man that Don Johnson, and Phillip I drooled everywhere! LOL!

Siebra Muhammad Saturday, June 12th 2010 at 8:05PM

I think you maybe referring to the song "Waterfalls" by TLC. I like their music too.

I'm big on Mary J. And Luther? A wedding just ain't a wedding without Luther!

Cynthia Merrill Artis Saturday, June 12th 2010 at 8:47PM

I love the tantalizing Temptations... most of the Motown Sound... Marvin Gaye... Earth Wind and Fire..... Fantasia... Elton John.... Will Downing... Najee... Minnie Ripperton...Luther.. Ms. Patti.... I can do a little rap.... BUT Im mostly caught up in R & B, Gospel, NeoSoul and Jazz..

This morning I saw a great show on "Our World" which featured music greats like Bill Weathers and George Benson. Both shared talks of their music careers and songwritings. Was a good feature. I like them both. I like what George said about music songs that last forever usually effects everyone...and Bill said he was particually proned to humility...that show virture in his music which sounds good every time I hear it.

And, Clark I have mentioned this before about how today's music have all of those African drums in teh back ground that we did not have in my generation...

music styles changes with each generation which has made me fully respect why my Mom could not stand Elvis PresleyBecause some of my children's choice in music ran me up the walls.lol (smile)

I learned to love jazz because it was always played in my home. The Blues never caught on with me and my taste though. To dreary and depressing, I guess. (smile)
