Let Me Look Into Your Eyes: Have You Heard of Iridology?

Iridology (also known as iridodiagnosis[is an alternative medicine technique whose proponents believe that patterns, colors, and other characteristics of the iris can be examined to determine information about a patient's systemic health. Practitioners match their observations to iris charts, which divide the iris into zones that correspond to specific parts of the human body. Iridologists see the eyes as "windows" into the body's state of health.

Iridologists use the charts to distinguish between healthy systems and organs in the body and those that are overactive, inflamed, or distressed. Iridologists believe this information demonstrates a patient's susceptibility towards certain illnesses, reflects past medical problems, or predicts later health problems.

Iridology is not supported by quality research studies and is considered pseudoscience and quackery by most medical practitioners and eye care professionals.

I was opportuned to take care of a guy over the weekend who told me that his ex-wife, an Iridologists had helped a woman who had been diagnosed with NonHodgkin's Lymphoma so much so that she never had to undergo chemotherapy or radiation treatments. This patient was so funny and even said he told his then wife she was a quack~~~ I wanted to ask him if that's why she divorced him?! I thought best not to do that. Ha!

I know, eh! This patient was so hilarious, because he actually gave me his ex's office practice information. She must not have been a quack afterall! The guy was too, funny.
