Breaking News: Oil stops gushing from Gulf waters for first time since April

British Petroleum says oil has stopped leaking into the Gulf of Mexico for the first time since April. BP has been slowly dialing down the flow as part of a test on a new cap. BP finally choked off the flow of oil into the Gulf of Mexico on Thursday -- 85 days and up to 184 million gallons (697 million litres) after the crisis unfolded -- then began a tense 48 hours of watching to see whether the capped-off well would hold or blow a new leak.
