Administration, Harris Was The First Black Female Cabinet Member. In 1965, During The Lyndon Johnson Administration, She Was Appointed Ambassador To Luxembourg, Becoming The First Black American, Female Ambassador. She Was Elected Permanent Chairman Of The
Democratic National Convention In The Early 1970's.
Her Remarkable
Career In Politics Paralleled An Impressive Career As An Educator. She Taught Law School At George
Washington University. She Served As The First Black Female Dean Of Howard University's Law School. In 1970, She Became The Youngest Person To Ever Be Appointed To The Board Of Directors At Georgetown University.
Patricia Harris Was Born May 31, 1924, In
Illinois. She Died Of Cancer, March 23, 1985, In Washington, DC. She Was 66 Years
Old.
