Weird News from UK: Nigerians Give Birth to White Blue-Eyed Blonde Girl

Jen Fad · Wednesday, July 21st 2010 at 9:05AM · 512 views
A black couple have amazed medical experts after their baby daughter was born with white skin, blue eyes and blonde hair. Benjamin and Angela Ihegboro’s daughter, Nmachi, has flummoxed genetic experts who are unable to explain why she looks the way she does.

{No the blog pik isn't the couple's baby, but can you imagine what the kid looks like...}

Doctors said the white-skinned newborn is not an albino. The blonde, blue-eyed girl’s Nigerian parents said they did not know of any white ancestry in either of their families. Genetics professors expressed amazement at the birth last night.“The birth is extraordinary,” said Professor Bryan Sykes, head of human genetics at Oxford University.

“In mixed race humans, the lighter variant of skin tone may come out in a child and this can sometimes be startlingly different to the skin of the parents.” Professor Sykes said both parents would have needed “some form of white ancestry.”

He added: “The hair is extremely unusual. Even many blonde children don’t have blonde hair like this at birth. “The rules of genetics are complex and we still don’t understand what happens in many cases. “This might be a case where there is a lot of genetic mixing, as in Afro-Caribbean populations.

“But in Nigeria there is little mixing.” The British couple are both of Igbo Nigerian origin and have dark skin... Despite jokingly asking whether he was the father, Mr Igegboro said: “Of course she is mine. “My wife is true to me. Even if she hadn’t been, the baby wouldn’t have looked like that!”

Pale skin genes can skip generations but neither Ben nor Angela Ihegboro –– who only moved to Britain five years ago –– know of any white heritage in either of their families.

The couple also have an older daughter, Dumebi, two, and a son, Chisom, four. Mr Ihegboro said the couple’s son was even more confused than them. He added: “Our boy keeps coming to look at his sister and sits down looking puzzled. “We are a black family. Suddenly he has a white sister. ‘But all that matters is that she is healthy and that we love her.’

I remember reading a similar story in a Jet magazine once. Mr. Ihegboro is right, ‘all that matters is that she is healthy and that we love her.’

I wish that was totally true, but knowing what the UK is like~~ it's the beginning of a very interesting life for this family.

My first reaction was to verify the source, but then I saw the link posted. Legitimacy still questionable, however, because anyone can post a fake news story. Unfortunately, at this point in my life I question everything that comes out of a Nigerian's mouth. There is nothing more common than a Nigerian scam and I have dealt with them for many years in business and know first hand their unique ability to do these types of things.

Interesting information Brother Jake. Would you have some web links to post for your research? I'd like to read more about the origins of Albino-ism. Thanks Jen Fad.

Hi Saint Jake

Where can I find documentation that Cain was the first white man? That sounds like the reverse of what the mormans teach.

Help me oit.

"Mum Angela said: 'She is beautiful, a miracle baby.'"

I was taught Black women are the only women that produces Albino's and this such case well..bloodlines can regenerate if there a truth to it. Anyway true or not! It's something to think about.

Jen Fad Wednesday, July 28th 2010 at 10:02PM

opps this is the correct spelling of the baby girl's name~~~Nmachi

Here's an interesting article

"Black, White and Other... Worldwide"

[...The take home point seems to be that something is, in fact, unusual about the circumstances of Nmachi's birth. History reveals that this is not necessarily the case, especially during the slavery and segregation eras in the United States. Many white parents gave birth to black children, so many that the U. S. ultimately had to enforce the "one drop rule," that classified everyone with any black features or any amount of black blood as black. It is telling that the same type of genetic scrutiny that Nmachi experienced was not enforced on most of these births...]

Hi Irma,

Yes. They allow black people to teach and they can have the priesthood. Joseph Smith gave all men, black and white, the priesthood. ' After he was murdered, Brigham Young took over and said God told him that the time was not right. They were being run out of everywhere they had been.

When Kimbell became the leader in the 70's, he said God told him to change that practice and so every since, Blacks have had full rights. They still did not say that Brigham Young was wrong.

The mormans teach that the mark on Cain's head was turning him black and that is how blacks survived on the ark. Ham married one of Cain's descendents. They also teach that Noah and his sons were white.

I like this part:

"Will she tick the White box, the Black or Black British - African box, the Black Other box, the Mixed White and Black African box, the Other mixed background box or Other ethnic background box?"

God forbid we wouldn't know what box to tick.

Thomasena Martin-Johnson Thursday, July 29th 2010 at 10:17AM

Could just tick all the boxes and other. Maybe they will stop askig. The boxes just prove that it is a numbers game fueled by Dollar bills. Racism is economically beneficial for the other side. We should refuse to play then what will he do?

Steve Williams Thursday, July 29th 2010 at 10:46AM

Thomasena, exactly. I did in fact refuse to answer the question on our census.

Thomasena Martin-Johnson Thursday, July 29th 2010 at 12:00PM

Sreve,
I did too.

Cynthia Merrill Artis Thursday, July 29th 2010 at 12:45PM

Scientifically... Albinoism... is a congenital disorder characterized by the complete or partial absence of pigment in the skin, hair and eyes due to absence or defect of an enzyme involved in the production of melanin.

ROBINSON IRMA Thursday, April 10th 2014 at 6:47PM

@ Thomasena, it is so very interesting you mentioned the Mormans...

do they allow African-Americans to teach their messages to others or is this still off limits for us to do any more than listen ? (smile)

ROBINSON IRMA Thursday, April 10th 2014 at 6:47PM

I gather these parents have a family that did not just come into exostance with only them in their family tree...

and with today's parents being able to have disigner children for the s*xual genders to the color of eyes...I must say I am not surprised atany thing today...

Oops, must not forget about cloning births. (smile)
