How Common Is Self Hatin' Among Black People?

I know a community of them (men and women) who don't think very much of black folks and happen to be black themselves. It's a sad story. But it's all ignorance, lack of self love, and not understanding who you are as people and as people.

According to Carl Roger's Humanistic Theory, people who are made to feel that they are not worthy of positive regards acquire a condition of worth that distorts their view of themself and their experiences.

I don't know why the judge would lecture on "race". Is this a real court of law? But I do think he disrespected the young lady by insisting she is black. If she identifies herself as not black, that is her right and should be respected. You noticed she identified as human. We could do with more of that. But she should be consistent and not call other people black at the same time.

Judge Mathis shows no sensitivity at all. The young lady identified herself as mixed. Mathis called her out of her name and insisted she is black. He brought up bleaching and continued to ridicule her for how she identifies herself. And what in the hell does any of this have to do with the case, which was about payment for a dress? It is Mathis that looks like a fool. People who are mixed get attacked from both sides, as the judge, not judging in a legal sense, but as an common bigot, shows.

I wonder what damage was done to that young lady's self esteem after that public humiliation? It was a vicious attack, not only by a judge in the legal system, who was way out of line, but by the audience who applauded his words.I feel sorry for the young woman.

That woman is "crazy" in a nut shell.... She is not happy with herself... so there fore how can she appreciate people ... black folks, gay folks, sad folks.... People like this... I can't tolerate....

Maybe she just needs to see the world outside her backyard, maybe take a trip to the mother land (don't know if she has) and really see how beautiful being a brown woman is. I mean I swear we have one the best skin, skin shades in the world. In all of it's diversity and goodness. We should CELEBRATE being black women.

But still, why did this conversation even come up? It had nothing to do with the issue being judged. At all, as far as I can see.

This same woman was on Montel Williams show once, and she and montel got into a heated debate on race...what she fails to realize is that she is making the job easier for idiots like Rush Limbaugh, Don Imus, and Dr. Laura because she continues to go on TV show after TV show denouncing her own race of people...

I am waiting for her to make her appearance on Judge Joe Brown's show...he will REALLY give her a run for her money!!!

Clark, it is often difficult for those who are mixed. Are they black, the one drop rule, still spoken of by Mathis? Or are they white? The judge could not accept that. Has she had other women spurn her for her mixed heritage? Maybe it is a crisis of identity? My second ex-wife has gone through this her whole life, an example from the other side, a lady (lighter than she is let's say) who in the grocery store, asked her how she got such a nice tan. But on the other side, being seated with her (first) husband in the back of the restaurant.

What makes President Obama "black", and not "white"? This is the evil of being judged by skin tone, from all quarters. And Mathis proved it comes from all quarters.

And BTW, the young lady is beautiful. That she cannot be happy with that simple fact, because society insists on seeing her as this or that, is truly a shame.

I am hoping someone will attempt to answer the question: why is President Obama "black" not "white"? Is it because the father, not mother, is dominant? is it because his melanin content exceeds the human population mean? Is it because we want him to be?

The comments just made are the reasons the young woman is having a problem. There are no pure race people heck, there isn't but one race, the human race. The reason that we don't see the other mix in the people we look at is because we are conditioned to only see color. That is the reason WS do not see the differences in people of color. For them, there are two colors black and white; if ypu are not white you are black. Black is a color, colors are adjectives so I am a noun, a person, place or a thing. Everybody is identified by a country except us, what country do you know named black?

Mexicans do not like to be referred to as hispanic, there is no country name Hispain. Why do WS have to name everybody? All people had names that they called themselves but that wasn't good enough. He had to come along and identify people as though they didn't know who they were. Indians were a good example. They weren' t from India.

All of this is the reason people of mixed heritage have such a hard time. The designation of one's self is gigantic when you don't like your self and you have been taught that the only things Africans (blacks) did was run around naked, with bones in their noses and plates in their lips and eat white people. Some of you may be too young to know that side of the color issue but I can remember vividly the pictures my mother hated and used them to teach me that all you read and see in books was not the truth and that included the white Jesus in the bibles.

When ever the WS feels threatened enough, he just creats some new white people. There was a time when I had to count the colors in my classroom. when it came to the asians, I asked if they were all to be lumped together as Orientals. I was told by a white assistant principal that only Japanese and Chinese were Oriental. the Vietnmese Cambodians and Laotians were white. New white people. Needless to say I did not do that; I asked them if they called themselves white. They said no and neither did I.

I dont think that our President has an identity problem but America sure does both white and black. I have an article written in TIMES when he first became a candidate asking if he was "black enough". Just a month ago, the white man who came to estimate my roof said that Obama was white because his mother was. Go figure.

Goes to show Thomasena, it is nothing but trouble when we try to classify people. KISS principle. Humans are humans.

Here we are at the same junction trying to determine who the hell we are, which is indicative of being an ignorant people, am I right. I have told you all so of times whom we are. I must know who we are since I am divinely charged with the responsibility of leading us out of subjugation and into sovereignty on a portion of this continent that we could call our very own country with borders to worship God, pursue life, liberty, happiness and prosperity in our own way.

I said that we are a made people and that we are approximately 500 years old. I said that we are the people that came from when White America bred themselves with the African slaves that they purchased from the slave traders. We are not the Africans nor Caucasians, but a new race of people born out of the ashes of slavery. We never existed anywhere is in this world before slavery in America, am I right.

Therefore, we are not to be confused whether we are Colored People, Black Hebrew Israelites, African-Americans, and Asiatic Black Man etc.

Again, we are Black Americans, which is a new race of people approximately 500 years old. When we become a sovereign people, we will have the opportunity to invent a word that would permanently say who we are that the world would accept.

I did not say I was broud of my so called white, I said I loved my family. MY socalled white grandmother didn't like them either and as I told another black lady some time ago, there are no bastards in my family and my black grandmother was not raped. I married a mocha man, and the man I am dating now is mocha. For me, nothing and nobody can compare with a good, intelligent handsome mocha, carmel, or cinnamon vanilla Nut.

I believe that all people with dark hair and eyes, are the same people regardless of what country they are in or what language they speak and I believed that before I knew what a Israelite was. I met some in Buffalo New York and got the lesson of a lifetime. So, don't get me wrong, I have no control who becomes a part of my family but if they are descendents of Ella and Billy, and John and Lula, I love them, and that is what counts; not who they marry. Everybody is entitled to a mistake or two.

This is what we ought to know because it is facts. When slavery first began, Black Africans of many different kinds were captured through out Africa. In other words, Black Africans from Sierra Leone, Ghana, Zimbabwe etc. were captured, am I right. Of course, you know that an African from Sierra Leone is not the same African from Ghana. The different types was obvious since there were a language barrier on the slave ships. So, the point that I am making is that on one side Black Americans came from many different kinds of Black Africans while on the other side of the coin White Americans of British descent is obvious. Out of this human soup type mixture, Black Americans emerged as a new race of people born out of the ashes of slavery. Because of our numbers (41 million), we are neither Africans Americans nor Caucasians. We are just as I said that we are, Black Americans born out of the ashes of slavery.

As I grow, you all will come to understand and accept that we are a new race of people in the many advantages that goes along with it.

For instance, I have said that we are going to become a sovereign people on a portion of this continent by an act of God. Consequentially, by an act of God, only one kind of people will become sovereign and that people will be Black Americans. Among us, there will be no such thing as Black Hebrew Israelites, Colored people, Asiatic Black people or Arabian Black people as some of you believe that you are which is indicative of how ignorant of a people that we are. This sort of ignorance is what I am going to put a stop to that we could move on to our sovereignty. Am I making any sense?

So, forget about your lineages is determining by your father. Black Americans lineages go back no further than 500 years when slavery in this country began. Black Americans have no history or lineages beyond the real estate of this continent and before 500 years ago. Black Americans’ existence began 500 years ago on the real estate of this continent of White America.

I am the way, and besides me, there is no other way that Black Americans could ever become a real people in this world. No one could trump anything that I say and everything that I say is going to happen.

I think we are older and a bit more matured. We understand that what you are learning is just that knowledge. Wisdom has taught us that we are to love people and be there for them regardless to what their "so-called" ethnicity, race, or nationality be.

As a health care personnel, I take care of all nationalities and although some people are just naturally rude that isn't the majority. Life is what we make of it and we can't become like the people who were responsible for our ancestor's enslavement which was based on superiority and inferiority. We are all God's creations.

True Jen, and you will notice that in times of disaster is when our human spirit shines through. I don't know if you remember the time that plane crashed into the Potomac from improper deicing, it was quite a few years ago. But people were diving off the bridge into the freezing waters to save their fellow man, and I don't think the victims or the rescuers risking their own lives had any thought of color in their minds.

I will never forget and made sure to take off work tomorrow because of that dreadful day.

When I was watching footage of the event, I saw people helping one another that they didn't know and that's not typical of New York. I just pray that it will not take another event like that to make us do what we should be doing for one another. God help us all.
