Butterfly:
The question in this poll originated with just general conversation I've had with everyday people like me. Most I spoke with using a few terms listed hunched their shoulders and walked away! I thought "What?" No, I feel many just don't know the basic of civics! [Irma Girl tries to explain what's up and many times I wonder if those who read her blogs really have a clue to what she's commenting on in government dealings?] She's up on it!
Oh, yes ma'am!!! Definitely!!! You have to give her and Clark credit!!!
Besides majoring in Business Administration in college I also studied Accounting. And along with the basics of civics I think accounting should be a required subject in high school and college as well. Because even though it seems the economy today will get worse before it gets better, once you understand the basics of civics and the GAAP (General Accepted Accounting Principles) it doesn't allow one to be broke.
This should make some us go back to the basics of civics! Our children really can benefit by knowing the polictal actions of government. They are the future and without some functional literate people I feel there may be a weaker government in the days to come. It's way out there, but it's actually not far away at all. You have made some excellent points...
YES WE CAN!!!
I couldn't tell it either Irma! So this will remain with me and you.
I do feel it when I"m paying for something and I know the cost is way above the service!!
A large percentage of African-Americans do not understand these terms as well as many terms associated with economics. I think we place entirely too much emphasis on schools and what our children are being taught. I was surprised when my 13 year old daughter recently told me she knew little about Martin Luther King, Jr., slavery or black history. I was pretty taken aback by this. It was at that point, that I felt it was my job as a parent to kick in and teach my child what I feel she needs educationally. I also believe that education should be "Fun". (Yes, I said it ... "fun"!). That's why I have found creative and entertaining ways of teaching her about government, math, economics and black history. If I wasn't a working mom, I would home school her because of what I feel she's lacking within our Michigan educational system. Unfortunately, this would then formulate another problem -- social skills. It's truly sad that most foreigners in our country have a far greater understanding of our governmental and economic system than many American's.
That's true...In addition the Asians have a quest for power and dominance over all others. The Asians spends their money with their own kind, which is natural. We, also, must do this. Help to make jobs for your own kind. Take a lesson from the Asians and go give employment and assistance to your own kind when they are in need. This is the first law of nature. Defend and support your own kind.
TALKS about inflations I never know what they are talking about.
guideline I don't recogize as something I am farmiluar with either MIISRAEl.

Misreal, you raised some good thought provoking questions. The sad truth is that many blacks aren't aware of what these words mean and they should be...
I was watching a special on MSNBC (don't laugh Mama Irma LOL) and they showed where 85% of African American college freshman have no clue as to what the 3 branches of government are. Makes you wonder what our black children are really learning in high school civics class...
