GENETIC SALMON IS A QUESTIONABLE FOOD SUPPLY

A new comprehensive method of growing genetically modified salmon as food met with much controversy on Monday, September 20, 2010. The Massachusetts company is pushing to market its genetically modified salmon as a food in the United States. A spokesman from the Alliance for Natural Health was quoted as saying "This recklessy and needlesly endangers human health."

Enviormental groups and consumer groups are concerned that in a long period of consumption of humans may result in endangerment to health of humans. Testing by scientists cannot prove that the fish is safe. These groups are urging The FDA to deny the future DNA fish to be placed on store market and pushing for more zoned saftey.

Given another side of the story, the company AquaBounty makes claims that farmers wil be able to yield more fish, larger in size. Which may mean more spending for more product. Biologists are interested mainly in its safety and do not necessarily agree in genetic food. Consumers baffle it's messing with nature.

.....and that's looks much like troubled waters.

What about that? More of The Jetsons coming about.

Do you think technology pushes boundries with genetic foods?

It's something to think about. ..

Talk exploratory foods! I tell you it takes faith to swallow our foods...and we're bound to see more of this coming.

This is one of the down sides to living in a capitalist society. It is all about the money. The lobbyists who can payoff enough people get what they want, whether it can be detrimental to human life or not. It was bad enough when FDA allowed all the hormones to be induced in the chicken, cows, pigs etc, which most Americans ate. Now that we have become more health conscious and have started eating more fish, fruit and veggies...they want us to eat bionic fish and jack up the price of fruits and veggies. FYI: be careful of where your fruits and veggies come from too. They also have been engineering seeds for those for years.

Irma you do a good practice. I starting to want to grow vegetables instead of flowers in my garden. And if I were able to, I think I would go back to farm raising livestock. I was raised in the country and I haven't forgotten much of what went on. I am not so easily taken with fondling with genetic meats. I really feel it is unsafe and ....

Darlene...you are telling a whole truth lobbyists, scientists and exploratory labortories are in ku-hoots! I know it's about money, control of the food supply that up for grabs. Controlling foods leads to something else like controlling lives. I know genetic testing in fruits and veggies are not anything new and more of these foods are making it to our groceries everyday. The article I read about the fish get this --mentioned that the company is using "anti-freeze" in the genetics to produce a larger fish.

also,

Irma wild foods are threatened by pollution of rivers, lakes and streams from dumping and waste that take years to dissolve.

Wait a second...

It's been nice to have your comments...and having y'all around.

MIISRAEL, if it does not say WILD along with the name and price tag..."I" will not buy it and because I know the difference in the taste of wild and not wild...if "I" do buy any under a false label I will promptly return it to that mafker as actions speak louder than words, every time.lol (smile)
