I was a victim one time in elementary school by a neighbor and classmate. It never occurred to me to be frightened by her. She threatened to "beat me up" after school. I waited for her and she never showed. The next day she wanted to be my friend. We were never friends.

I could never understand what a person could gain from the act o bullying. It is truly sad that a person might find pleasure in mistreating someone else.

I think, sometimes, that it begins with the parents..."If someone hits you, you had better hit them back! If someone looks at you sideways, hit 'em! The child could be bullied by an older sibling or just craves attention- even negative attention. Sometimes it can be fixed by a thorough physical examination-- the child may have a neurological problem. The problem isn't fixed by segregation from the rest of the children. There are reasons I haven't touched on for this behavior.

Bullies...they have to beat others down to build themselves up. Truth is they lack something, and seek to gain it by mistreating others. This is their way of gaining power...albeit temporary power.
