Education Reform Focus: Extending Funds to our Teachers

As the debate over the validity of education reform wages on, there is one factor that is agreed upon by just about everyone involved in the discussion. Teachers need to be able to maintain or enhance their current skill levels to properly serve their students. Ongoing education for teachers has long been the practice in many school districts across the country, but as the focus on the impact of a good teacher increases, the need for ongoing teacher education becomes even more vital.

According to the United States Board of Education, grants and funding available to teachers include, graduate school grants are available from the U.S. Board of Educatino, academic institutions and private grant programs.

Ongoing education allows our teachers to learn new skills and programs that can enhance their ability to teach our kids. Education also ensures that our school districts are offering the latest tools to their students, allowing for the most effective education results.

Districts interested in obtaining grants for their teachers need to be aware that the application process may be tedious and take several months, or up to a year. Administrators should check into the fellowships and programs that exist to assist in their application.
