NAME calling again?

Thomasena Martin-Johnson · Thursday, November 4th 2010 at 4:01PM · 522 views
It is unnecessary to CALL NAMES. Some people on this site decided to have some kicked off just for that very thing. What is going on here? I am disappointed with the way the site is headed. The first amendment guarentees free speech unless libal or slander is used. Some on this site has used both. As I said before, If it is good for one, it should be good for the other.

I am positive that most of us did not know much of what she has been teaching and especially those who consider themselves theologans. It would be a good idea to just shut up and listen, (read and learn) as I have done. And then if there is cause for disagreement, present your point at the proper time. after all, ALL learning and the DEVELOPMENT of what has been handed down as fact occured just this way. Somebody had question, and somebody had the answer.

For some, to suspend disbelief may be difficult, but you will be surprised at how clear something will be when that is done.

Often when one lacks the mental inventory to debate intellectually, what is left is name calling.

When one cannot refute a person's scholarship...one must seek alternative and 'lesser' means at maintaing a sense of credibility.....so one therefore resorts to inflammatory characterization of the person . YOU THINK ??

ONE COULD JUST SHUT UP AND LEARN.NOBODY KNOWS EVERYTHING. THE KNOWLEDGE BASE CHANGES EVERYDAY.

I've even posted a few blogs about how disgusted I am with the direction this site has been going for the past number of months. I read plenty and comment sparingly.

This board is full of so much negativity right now it's a damn shame, it has become very, very clear that when any REAL knowledge is placed on this site the placer is attacked, severely, by those who possess jealousy and envy. I have to often censure and sometime explain to people like Harry the foulness of their fallacies. However, there is a much better way to express, agree to disagree without the venom of the few members that spew it on this site.

To everyone reading this post, I am one speaking for all of my site brothers and sisters here, and I am asking us all to do a better job of making this site enjoyable, if we as black people can't show respect to each other on the net (of all places), how in the hell can we expect people like Don Imus and Rush Limbaugh to respect us?

Thank you Tomasena and all who stand up for simple decency and common courtesy.

As one of the few non-African Americans who IS--most definitely--a part of this community, it warms my heart to see some of the folks pushing back against the rush of negativity on this site.

I have been deeply enriched and inspired by my participation here. I feel like I have learned so much from men and women who are smart, informed, compassionate, talented and really good people. I am proud and honored to be able to show up here every now and again and add my two cents.

But...all this negativity, the name calling, the threats, the silliness--does not constitute intelligent, civil conversation.

We are seeing a reflection of the kind of uncivil, inconsiderate discourse not currently out there in the world. It is ugly in the "real world" and it is ugly here.

So I would like to thank all of you who abide by an inner sense of goodness and decency and agree to share ideas in a respectful manner and disagree without being disagreeable. That makes real communication so much easier. All the negativity, mean-spirited threats and bomb throwing stops any meeting of the minds.

All I have to say it thank you to those who want to maintain a reasonable standard of civil discourse. Love you all!!!
