Important it is know that fasting is one of the most intimate connections with God. Denying the body of physical food in order to feed your spirital devotion with the Spirit of God. However, so many devoted to God never fast; or have fast very few times.. To increase a more intense relationship with the Creator fasting is an excellent way. Fasting is encouraged and increased with growth in meditation. Allow your time for fasting soon.

These scriptures are examples of how to fast and inspiration of fasting benefits:

When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting,
that was my to my reproach.
[Psalm 35:18]

It is such a fast that I have chosen?
a day for man to afflict his soul? Is it
to bow down his head as a bulrush and to
spread sackcloth and ashes under him?
Wilt thou call this fast, and an acceptable
day to the Lord?

When ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites of
a sad countenance for they disfigure their faces,
that they may appear unto men to fast.
Verily, I say unto you they have their reward.
But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head,
and wash thy face.
That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto
thy Father, which is in secret and thy Father, which
seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
[Matthew 6:16-17]

I ate no bread, neither flesh or wine came to my mouth.
Neither did I annoint myself till 3 whole weeks were fulfilled.
[Daniel 10:3]

Meditation is vital to your fasting growth. Perhaps if you are new at or never tried fasting. Begin with a fasting prayer, try one or two days, or even less to start a set few hours of each day. As your body becomes conditioned to taking on longer fasts increase your meditation. Let your fasting have reason. i.e. Some may have sorrow, sickness, or asking for a specific prayer to be granted. Fasting is to be taken seriously and not for rewards that hypocrites seek. Always meditate and fast with honesty to in ways that are pleasing God.

MAY YOUR MEDITATION OF YOUR HEART BE PLEASING AND ACCEPTABLE IN GOD'S SIGHT.

Good post Misreal! For those like myself who are members of the NOI (Nation Of Islam), we know that fasting embraces the discipline that brings peace & harmonic community...

Siebra: Fasting is a strong commitment to discipline as you mentioned. It is good for the mind and spirit. Thanks for adding that insight to the comments.
