BLACK FARMERS NEED YOUR HELP TODAY: Calling All Advocates
The legislation to fund the Pigford II class action lawsuit between black farmers who were racially discriminated against for decades and the USDA has passed the Senate and is now pending before the House of Representatives.
The House of Representatives has passed this funding twice before, each time to have it eliminated by the Senate. We now have a bill which has passed the Senate and is awaiting approval by the US House before it can go to the President for his signature.
Never before have we been so close to closing this dark chapter in America's history: the federal government must take affirmative steps to correct the centuries of injustice against African American farmers.
Please take a minute to read the attached Action Alert [http://action.naacp.org/page/-/action%20alerts/PIGFORD_//_MUST_NOW_PASS_House.pdf] and make a call to your Representative to urge them to pass this vital [H.R. 4783] Pigford II Bill when it comes before them this week. Visit www.House.gov and www.Senate.gov.
As always, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments.
