Sista Irma, I posted the content of this article on the 22nd. You can go there and read it.
@Sista Dorothy, this article truly makes you wonder what will become of African Americans in the coming years and should be an eye opener for us to get our acts together, support each other, and become the black leaders, business owners, progressive strong individuals that we are, or we are going to be left behind, mashed together in the surrounding ghettos, while the rich are living luxuriously off our backs!
You would think the viewing of black in america series it would be a wake up call to us to realize our situation is our problem. Some were more concerned that there story was not told than talking what is known and finding solutions. Sure the government does/should play its part but it is up to us to make it happen. We have not carried the torch the Harriets, WEB, Drew put in our hands.
I fear for my people especially since the GOP will control the Senate. They are determined to make cuts in social programs that most of our people depend on for survival. Rightfully so some do need to be reduced. But, most of the people dependant on them are not prepared.
This site should have been blowned up with correspondence on what we can do, are doing, etc. Enough of the back biting and negative.....we have ran out of time for that.
I didn't know you had posted this earlier. I will take a look at it.
Irma,
Speaking of the Black Star Line.
"They said that the Negro had no initiative; that he was not a business man, but a laborer; that he had not the brain to engineer a corporation, to own and run ships; that he had no knowledge of navigation, therefore the proposition was impossible.
Oh! ye of little faith. The Eternal has happened."
-- Marcus Garvey, on the launching of the Black Star Line
I posted a blog, that "Computer software engineer is one of the fastest growing careers, with the U.S. Labor Department projecting that employment of such professionals will soar by nearly 300,000 jobs between 2008 and 2018."
http://blackinamerica.com/cgi-bin/blog.cgi...
How does what Marcus Garvey said relate to the opportunities in computer science today? I have yet to here from anyone if they have done any experimenting with Scratch. I can only imagine if BIA would get a piece of those 300,000 jobs?
Sorry, I meant a BIG piece.
Steve, I did check it out and passed info on to a couple of others that are not on this site.
The Black Star Project is a nonprofit organization located in Chicago dealing with the education of our children.
Thanks Dorothy, and my latest Scratch program is here:

There are some glitches with the way their website runs programs, so even though it starts running as soon as you go to the link, read the instructions on the right and stop/restart it to enable all the functions.
Actually, you need to restart the program after any scrolling of the web page.
"4) Understand that for the rest of our existence, Black people will live in a "STEMM" world, a world based on Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and Medicine (STEMM). If we are to survive, it will be because we understand and master "STEMM." We must teach Black children accordingly."
This is a local nonprofit where I live in West Chester, PA that has this focus:

This may be a little off topic but I want to put it out there. We need to start really supporting our black businesses...it's for our own survival. I posted something similar a day ago about this but I guess since it wasn't a popular topic it was ignored. I am getting fearful for our people. We are lagging too far behind.
Please click on the listings below and pass info on.

I didn't write the article, only referenced it. We tend to get caught up correctiveness of wording rather than the issue/s at hand. I find it offensive that as long as this site has been up and running we're in no better shape than we were .
Clark has been an increase number of our children graduating from high school, decrease in single parenting(or child receiving support from one parent), decrease in violence( black on black, or violence in general) , or better financial outlook for our people? These and other issues I am talking about that we have not moved forward. Just check out some of the posting on this site, are they ones to help us or keep us as they say in the Army, "marching time"(standing the same same place)
TRUE DAT!!! ((out some of the posting on this site, are they ones to help us or keep us as they say in the Army))
((What we need is a revolution of the mind;))
@Anita, all I can say is as a rule I read all of your blogs...(but maybe instinct kept me away from this one.lol)and I do believe you know me well enough to be able to know my comments before I even put them o nthe site. looooooool..
remember what I said about the words Black Star making me so proud...if you have not seen me go against E B Dubois for helping bring down the Black Star program then you have no wayof knowing that tis man is teh 21st century of abusing that proud words...(again learning from the African-centered BIA history on tis matter not the Eurpean-centered version to keep us down / demeaned by our own educators)
at least Dubois got teh money backings for the NAACP what is this person's goal, to get a guest spot on Rush Limbaugh or a job on the Fox news cable network???????...
OR TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, "ALL BLACKS DON'T STEAL EITHER"!!!!!!!! N...U...P)
...and, now that my pure ***** is up...the Black Star project was the one and only all Black owned and operated black mega business in teh united still today taht has not been topped....what is teh forerunner of teh NOI ideology and look had this has us hating on each other because we just might get together and unite once againinto mega all balck owned and operated business????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!? (NUP!!!!!!!!!!)

BUT THANKS AND LOVE YA ALL...
...OOPS TAHT THE BLACK STAR WAS TO TAKE US BACK TO AFRICA IS BETTER THAN TO HAVE US KNOW IT WAS A SHIPPING MEGA BUSINESS OWNED, CREATED AND RUN BY BLACKS AS STOCK HOLDERS...NOW WE KNOW WE CAN NOT HAVE BLACK PEOPLE GOING AROUND BELIEVEING THEY PUT THE FEAR OF GOD INTO MAJOR WHITE SHIPPING COMPANIES NOW CAN WE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..........
