WHO ARE THE MOST ADMIRED AMERICANS IN 2010? ACCORDING TO A RECENT POLL IT'S...

Americans say they most admired President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2010, according to an annual USA Today/Gallup survey released Monday.

Obama is Americans’ most admired man for the third consecutive year, getting 22 percent of the vote in the poll, which surveyed 1,019 adults Dec. 10-12. Clinton is the most admired woman, getting the nod from 17 percent of those surveyed.

As Obama’s term has gone on, the proportion of Americans who say they most admire him has dipped, however. In 2008, 32 percent chose Obama, and in 2009, 30 percent said the president was the man they most admired. Former President George W. Bush is second on the list of Americans’ most admired men with 5 percent of those surveyed saying they most admire him. Third is former president Bill Clinton at 4 percent.

Hillary Clinton's lead on the list seems to be growing. Last year, Clinton led Sarah Palin by 16 percent to 15 percent. In 2010, Clinton was named most admired by 17 percent of Americans, compared with 12 percent for Palin and 11 percent for Oprah Winfrey.

This is Clinton’s ninth consecutive year atop the list, which she also topped for six of the eight years that her husband was president. First lady Michelle Obama doesn’t do nearly as well, placing fourth on the list and named most admired by 5 percent of those surveyed. Condoleezza Rice, Clinton’s predecessor at the State Department, was fifth, getting 2 percent of the vote.

The margin of error is plus or minus 4 percentage points.

Hey Jen--

First: MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Now...here is the question as presented by the Gallup Poll on their website:

"What man that you have heard or read about, living today in any part of the world, do you admire most? And who is your second choice?"

Pretty simple.

Merry Christmas everybody. Brotha Richard, I saw a similar poll on msnbc, but fell asleep on it. I think the topic was most influential person in 2010. I did wake up to see the president as #1, I know the Clinton's, Donald Trump and mama grissley was on there, but i don't remember much more. They also stated though he was their choice, the next 2 years would make him or break him. No, now I remember it was former president George Bush as #1. Man have to go find it.

George W. Bush as most influiential in 2010? The guy was practically invisible, except for his book.

@ Brother Rich

["What man that you have heard or read about, living today in any part of the world, do you admire most? And who is your second choice?"]

In that case, I'd say Bono for my first choice and my second choice would be President Obama; Female 1st choice would be Angelina Jolie and then Oprah as second choice.

Hey Jen:

Interesting choices! It shows what you value--you admire people of means who go out of their way to help others. Bono and Angelina Jolie have made it their business to use their fame and fortune to uplift those less fortunate.

Good choices!!!
