(BlackDoctor.org) -- Do you weigh more than you did ten years ago, or even five years ago? The extra pounds snuck up on you, accumulated gradually before you even realized it, and now you're looking at some serious extra poundage. But that's to be expected as you get older, right?

Sounds like a good idea. I'll be walking during next week which I start with possiblly a mile a day and work up from that. I'm willing who knows some others may want to join in our our process and give blogs and suggestions. We're opening up a way to get fit! Sometimes support of others is just the key to a good start for better health.

I know I need to drop some of this belly fat. My PCP has been on me about it. This is my goal for this upcoming year, even if if means doing those ole sit ups.

Dorothy Johnson Friday, December 31st 2010 at 11:35AM

When I was in the Army maintaining my weight was easy...I had no choice. Since i retired, I have slacked off. But when my doctor told me belly fat can lead to heart, diabetes and other health issues, I know I have to disciple myself to lose the extra lbs.

Jen Fad Friday, December 31st 2010 at 3:35PM

@ Brother Clark,
[I notice the older you get, the more discipline regarding what you eat and excercise is required.]
I'm fast learning that "truth". I picked up a great book from the library that has been a blessing to me, "Look Great, Feel Great". One of the things that the writer talked about was the point regarding: Dont' Chase Your Youth! Wow. That is exactly what I'd been doing by looking at pictures of myself when I was younger. I'm learning to look the best at the age that I am now rather than allowing those air brushed magazine touch ups of Hollywood stars to deceive me.

Miisrael and Sister Dorothy let's make it happen and perhaps we can check in with one another from time to time, eh?

MIISRAEL Bride Friday, December 31st 2010 at 4:29PM

Let's.... I'm all so willing since I need to tone up some inches and lose a few pounds. We'll make it as regular follow ups!

... not forgetting to mention I love the "Body Magic" (super girdle product) because it help to suck in and squeeze in those troubled spots I have after having my son so that I look like I have lost 2-3 dress sizes; it also helps support my spine so because of the great back support it provides, I also wear it while working. It's truly an awesome product along with the Le Vive antioxidant drink which is such a energizer and helps to cleanse the body of all those free radicals thereby decreasing the risks of build of of carcinogen by products (cancer causes) in the body.

SOMETIMES I DONT WANT TO GO TO THE GYM but i know i like to eat so i get my butt up and go once in there i start to ride the bikes or start lifting weights and feel i have to really talk myself into staying some times !!
its hard work to have a good body and a even harder to keep your mind right with all the distractions in the world that why wisdom is important if you try to apply wisdom to all you do then when faced with a situation your wisdom will pull you through ! thank god wisdom comes with age and i can truly say i have done some growing up and by gods grace i stand with the wisdom to grow ! mind body and spirit ! MY GOD HAS BEEN GOOD TO ME !

Jen Fad Monday, January 3rd 2011 at 3:09PM

@ Brother David,
I know what you mean about having to talk to yourself so that you don't find an excuse to leave the gym! Aquiring and maintaining good bodies really requires discipline, wisdom, and just plain ole' "stick-to-it-ness" (staying with it no matter what)!

@ Sister Stella,
You look great! I struggle to lose one pound and here you have acknowledged that you lost 70 lbs--- Lawd hamercy--- You go girl!! I'm sorry but I can't help you regarding your challenge, but you sure have given me help with what you have stated. I hope someone here will be able to advise you on what to do to lose the weight in your upper body area.

Jen Fad Monday, January 3rd 2011 at 5:01PM
