The Queen's Chair: The Kennedy Center Honors

Marsha Jones · Thursday, December 30th 2010 at 1:18AM · 566 views
All I have to say is that last night's Kennedy Center Honors was memorable. The honorees included Oprah Winfrey, Bill T. Jones, country singer Merle Haggard, but the night belonged to ex-Beatle Paul McCartney. During a medley of songs, Mavis Staples in her deep alto voice came on stage and made his song, "Let It Be" her own. He approved with a huge smile and an astonished happy look on his face. The fans in the audience rocked out to a medley of songs including, "Hey Jude" flashing their lighted cell phones as they glowed in the audience.

If you don't normally watch these honors, you should. It was a magical night of TV. I should have taped this.

@ Cynthia: I swear you and my girlfriend LaVonda are die-hard El DeBarge fans. She saw him in Jersey and put him up on her Facebook pages for days. lolol

As for the Honors: It was off the chain, off the hook...didn't expect all that. I hope they re-play this so I can tape it. And Ms. Hudson looks mah-ve-lous!!!
