AN ODD STORY: MY NEIGHBOR HAS A LITTLE BIT OF A PROBLEM...

Life is full of surprises, some we don't really know how to take. So my neighbor came to me for help. Although I'm not an expert advisor by a long shot... I did advice the best I could. You see my neighbor has a little bit of a problem... There's a little cute rodent in their house called a squirrel. So far; the little fuzzy cutie is being contained in one of their son's bedroom with the door shut tight! I recommended that they call an exterminator, and I told them to try closing all exits and doors in the other rooms, open up the back and front doors and shewing the little critter out! But, my neighbor claimed that's been attempted more than once..and the "Little Alvin" simply won't go OUT!
Next, I suggested setting a trap, but they haven't done that yet. I don't know what else to tell them... Has anyone here ever had this problem with a little bitty squirrel? If so, advice me so I can give them your suggestion. It's quite funny, somewhat-- but to them it's no laughing matter. Squirrels have been known to bite and attack when cornered.

This is an Odd Story to me because..
oddly enough I don't know what else to tell them!!
Man! a squirrel in the house caused me to clean up!!
YIPES!.... "I'm okay!"

MIISRAEL:

This is a problem for PROFESSIONALS.

That squirrel is probably ornery, frightened and in a panic because he is out of his element. Squirrels need to be outdoors, swinging from trees. I think he is dangerous.

He may try to gnaw his way out, causing structural damage.

What I would do:

First--call an exterminator.
then: slip some RAT poison or large glue traps in there.

But he has got to go.

Good luck!!!

MIISRAEL Bride Thursday, December 30th 2010 at 12:46PM

Thanks Richard. Good advice.....I'll pass that on to my frizzled neighbor.."Eeek!"

MIISRAEL Bride Thursday, December 30th 2010 at 12:56PM

Clark that's a good idea! I'm jotting these down so my neighbor and follow suite!

The little fella is out of his element, yes? But who was here first? Developers build houses, condos, and other structures that displace animals from thier natural habitat, yes?

Try a little tenderness... Feed the animal a bit of bird seed, nuts, or fruit that lead into a box or some sort of trap. Once he is inside close him in and take him outside. Why should he be killed? If you were caught out of your element, would you want to be killed? I think not.

The animal control people will help you in the adventure as will a professional pest control company. :-)

You'll be fine once you calm down and put yourself in his place... The animal does not want to be there as much as you do not want him/her there.

Good Luck.

Peace and Love,

Greg.

A can of RAID!!! and some nuts in a bowl... is what they get from me.....

MIISRAEL Bride Thursday, December 30th 2010 at 1:47PM

Brother Greg: I agree...but..How sweet you are with nature's creatures! I don't think that killing the animal is the major goal, so I think eventually your method will make sense of getting him back where he's home again. Thanks!

MIISRAEL Bride Thursday, December 30th 2010 at 1:49PM

Thanks for the links too Brother Greg.

Cynthia Merrill Artis Thursday, December 30th 2010 at 1:49PM

ok... I will not advocate the destruction of those lil things... but every thing has it's place... and inside is no place for critters..........lol

Siebra Muhammad Thursday, December 30th 2010 at 1:50PM

I agree...my friend had one roaming around in their attic...feeding him peanut butter on a glue trap ought to do the trick...or you can find an animal/pest control center in your area by clicking here:

MIISRAEL Bride Thursday, December 30th 2010 at 2:04PM

Cynthia Merrill Artis Thursday, December 30th 2010 at 2:13PM

Im just being comical....

We have a squirrel family that lives around our yard gathering pecans... one year our tree wasn't producing much and those little critters took what little we had... Our dog keeps most of them at bay...

Siebra Muhammad Thursday, December 30th 2010 at 2:14PM

Also if you are near a Walmart or Target store there is a product called "Squirrel Away"...I don't know how to use it but I heard it works well...some local hardware stores carry it also.

MIISRAEL Bride Thursday, December 30th 2010 at 2:18PM

Bee.. they are cuties, but I keep at bay from them!..Squirrels make me jump because they are so fast moving!

Butterfly: I'll write down this product...since he or she [the squirrel] is in the bed room it might put it to a little nod then out they goes...

Marsha Jones Thursday, December 30th 2010 at 2:48PM

The squirrel needs it's own place...back in nature.

MIISRAEL Bride Thursday, December 30th 2010 at 2:50PM

Right you are Marsha! I'm being a mediator to help my neighbor make it happen. I'm hopeful it'll turn out to the squirrel's advantage.

Marsha Jones Thursday, December 30th 2010 at 3:09PM

I hope so. Tell your neighbor to start wiping down stuff after it's gone. Just the thought is grossing me out. YUCK!!

MIISRAEL Bride Thursday, December 30th 2010 at 3:15PM

LOL!....Double YUCK!!!

Cynthia Merrill Artis Thursday, December 30th 2010 at 4:51PM

LET us know what happens this is interesting... if there are little ones in the house... go with my plan....

Beautiful, Beautiful, Ladies... Don;t get me wrong, I don't want the little suckers living in my house either! Lord Knows what I've endured with what they have done to me...:-)

Albeit, I love them as God's Creatures. They do need to be in their own space.

On the other hand - what do they do to survive in an environment unaccustomed to them by way of manifest destiny?

Poor Critters...I still think they are cute. To watch them scurry and play about...all shucks I'm getting all mushy here :-)

I think you Ladies are cute too... :-) (LOL)!

Do what you can to get rid of the nuisance...Whatever you do, I hope it works out for you and the pest!

Peace and Love to YOU ALL...and WISHING YOU ALL A HAPPY AND PROSPEROUD NEW YEAR!!!

Everyone...Just so you know I will taking all your suggestions over this afternoon to my neighbor so that the squirrel I've named Alvin can get back out into the wild. I'm confident I won't go in the room, but will hand deliver them at the door. I'll let you know the outcome as soon as I can.
"Thanks EvryBody!"...

@Imra and Greg: Been to long since I seen those movies...that reminded me of "The Little Shop of Horrors" all are classic somewhat horror/sci fiction movies!...Great to watch on New Year's Eve....LOL! Sreeek!!......

You guys are hilarious. Sista Misrael, my daughter went through this problem for about a year. They kept getting into the house. Tell them they must call an exterminator. They won't kill it, just contain it. Please tell them not to attempt contact. They carry more disease than rats. They usually come in through the roof or basement, so then they have to look for holes and plug them. And please, please sanitize. I wouldn't touch a thing in that house until I put some gloves and got busy. Last but not lease, you have to find the outside source, because those little critters are like an army. Those were scouts that got in. They're going back to the captain, alerting him to what they found, and they coming back to attack. My daughter has a huge tree in her yard which had to be taken down. She said she would hear them dropping onto her roof. Imagine getting up at night seeing those beady little eyes and they don't back down. My daughter and her kid’s end of sleeping in the same bed and the dang pit bull they got ain't worth hoot. I said to her what Brooklyn doing, she said he look up and go back to sleep. Even the dog got used to them. LOL!

MIISRAEL Bride Friday, December 31st 2010 at 11:16AM

Eureka! I've got a little peep hole in my back top ceiling...I'd better get it fixed. I don't think I can stand the thought!..."Beady little eyes!"...Yawwwwl! I'm getting the creeps...
Ha! HA! Ha!....Thanks Anita I'll tell them.

You know this makes one aware that to keep watch on nature and practice a clean and secure home if you can. Those home repairs may be need to be taken seriously as early as possible. There is always some reason or purpose for everything! Amazing!

MIISRAEL Bride Friday, December 31st 2010 at 6:55PM

At last!...at last

At last! At last!... Little Alvin the squirrel is

FREE!!!

My neighbor decided to take off the window screen opened the window took down the blinds & curtains and then little fellow flew out like lightening !!!!

What an Odd ending...

Hasn't this really been an Odd Story. It's one to remember.

Smiles...

ROBINSON IRMA Thursday, April 10th 2014 at 6:47PM

MIISRAEL, I had a friend who tode us this about her unwanted squirrel house guest. she was tired of coming home and finding the distruction it had left so she set a trap, caught it, cleaned and cooked him. But, she could not eat it because some how she had begun to miss it.

She told us this at work the next day, because she wanted our advice on if she was nuts or not. lol (smile)
