Californians will see the light-and a reslting energy cost savings-earlier than the rest of the United States.The standard outlined in the Energu Independence and security Ast of 2007says that a 100-watt bulb manufactured on or after a set date must use 28 percent less energy than a traditional 10-watt incandescent lightbulb. In effect, the bulb canot use more than 72 watts.
