No Jen, I did not hear about that. I don't agree with the decision. I'm sure the can find another day.
JEN I READ THE STORY and First of all, MLK Day was NOT established due to "horrible and cruel sacrifices...", rather to honor a man who encouraged peaceful tolerance and respect for ALL people regardless of color or ethnicity. He changed our country for the better...he was 'colorblind.' This is a fact that Nantambu needs to remember...Dr. King was not a racist! He would probably be honored to have students in school honoring him by studying about his great works on HIS day. As for Dr. Gorman, where are Nantambu's comments on the much higher per pupil expenditures of CMS in schools of high poverty, usually with large percentages of minority children? Certainly if it were the other way around, he would be raising the roof!! Keep up the good work Dr. Gorman! I can't help but wonder, if Nantambu and his followers would spend as much time volunteering in the schools as they do stirring up resentment and marching, what a positive difference could be made in the lives of students who have little or no academic help at home?
