Is Moammar Gadhafi looking for a way out? The prospect of the Libyan strongman stepping down is generating considerable buzz today, but good answers are hard to come by.

Leaders of the Libyan opposition movement claimed Monday that Gadhafi sent a representative to Benghazi to negotiate the terms for his abdication. Libyan state television denied those reports. However, a spokesman for the National Council, the opposition's Benghazi-based interim government, continues to insist that Gadhafi approached the ruling body for negotiations. According to Al Jazeera:

The Libyan leader is said to be willing to step down in return for dropping war crimes charges against him and guaranteeing a safe exit for him and his family. He also reportedly wants guarantees from the UN that he will be allowed to keep his money.

Reuters similarly reports that Gadhafi could be willing to hand over power to head of parliament should certain financial and legal guarantees be proffered. ...

Chickens have come home to roost... You sound like Rev. Wright. What exactly does that phase mean anyway?

@ Sister Irma,
It is no secret that America only protects its "Interests" when it comes to Foreign Affairs; other World countries know this and also do the same. Perhaps the American Public is just finding out about this fact. I think we ought to keep our eyes and ears open and make sure we read and view other News media besides the American ones that like to keep its citizens dull to the facts.

As I always go along with history in its showing that the rag tag military has always won over the formal military as in our American revolution, Russia being beaten in Afganstan, us int Viet Nam...my believing the freedom fighters in Libya will win, because their loyalty is not to a $$$$$$$$$ but to their own familiy and friends. (smile)

That's alright Jen. I use to hear the expression a lot but it seem it is only known in the deep south. It is a lot like when one says, "You have made your bed not sleep in it..."The truth always hurts", anything related to doing something one now regrets is what this expressoin is about...

that is until it was used to try and have us not accept a black president, but any teaching moment is a great thing, right (smile)
