IMPACT, the first pilot small group of the "Sold Out Servant" (S.O.S.) initiative of the FAMU Wesley Foundation, began its weekly meetings at the Wheatley Hall dormitory on February 8, 2011. Facilitated by "Sold Out Servant" Lois Harmon, the group of 7-10 young ladies meets on Tuesday evenings in the dorm.

Harmon, who also named the group IMPACT-which stands for Influencing and Motivating People According to Christ's Teaching(s)-is exceptionally passionate about the group. IMPACT exists to engage students in spiritual disciplines, accountable discipleship, and authentic community founded on a covenant that incorporates clauses for devotion, worship, compassion and justice.

IMPACT is designed to create a community of people who are becoming more like Jesus Christ and actively sharing Him with the world in and beyond the college campus context. Aumailia Otto, a student from Palm Beach County says, "Personally, it keeps me rooted and grounded," while Dolly Larkins, also from Palm Beach County, says, "At home, it is easy to stay on track, but in college it's easy to get off track. IMPACT brings me back and keeps me focused."

IMPACT is guaranteed to help students understand Christ more as well as provide them with the opportunity to belong, connect, grow, and serve individually and corporately. Shelby Steedley, a student from Columbia, South Carolina, says that she has really learned a lot since IMPACT has been established.

Lois Harmon, an Elementary Education major with a minor in Spanish, is a junior at FAMU. As a part of the "Sold Out Servant" initiative, she attended the Passion Conference in Atlanta, GA in January 2011, and will attend the RECLAIM Conference in April 2011.

Applications for 2011-2012 "Sold Out Servant" Mentors are now available online and due by April 4, 2011. For more information and to download the application & recommendation form, go to http://www.famuwesley.com/pages.asp?pageid...

That's great news and it sounds like the same type program that I did when I was attending USC in Columbia, SC called Campus Crusaders for Christ. I liked going to the bible studies and church functions that made me be more aware of Christ's present in my life while attending school.
