...And, Rich it is also about showing how religions are more alike than different...Buddhism uses myth and simple stories to show how mankind has no way of understanding how to respect each other as equals in being members of the human race as well as how to solve problems that comes with : birth, sickness, old age and death in order to be HAPPY. IT IS MORE EASIER TO TEACHHATE AND FEAR OF DIFFERENT RELIGIONS THAN TO TEACH "PEACE ON EARTH GOODWILL TOWARDS MANKIND" something we all seek or should seek...(nup/ smile)

He made a great point. Religious Scriptures from just about every religion are not meant to be taken literally. They are intended as instructions for the spirit. They are metaphorical and poetic, filled with imagery and subject to widely divergent interpretations.
Why is this so? The Divine, no matter which religion is expressing it, is TOO LARGE FOR HUMAN COMPREHENSION. Our meager words cannot do it justice. Any effort by humans to characterize God is doomed to fail because it will fall short.
God is beyond comprehension, beyond description--the PEACE THAT PASSETH UNDERSTANDING.
