DEAF MAN BITES OFF ANOTHER DEAF MAN'S EAR IN FIGHT

A deaf Texan is accused of channelling his inner Mike Tyson and chomping off part of another deaf man's ear during a night of mayhem, police said Monday.

And that was before 26-year-old Davon Stewart got flattened by an SUV - and busted out of a Houston hospital while handcuffed to a wheelchair.

Stewart's troubles began while he was attending a party at a deaf friend's apartment on Feb. 21.

It was there that Stewart, who can speak a bit, and the man he allgedly bit, who communicates only through sign language, got into an argument.

Stewart, who was apparently intoxicated, kept interrupting the other deaf man, police said.

Finally, in frustration, the man doused Stewart with malt liquor - and then tried to kick him out of the party, according to police.

Stewart, cops said, pushed the man's girlfriend - and sparked the furious fight that ended with part of that man's ear in Stewart's bloody mouth.

While trying to flee the party, Stewart was hit by a Dodge Durango.

At the hospital, where Stewart was being treated for a leg injury, he lied and told cops his name was Tyrone Banks, police said.

Stewart was charged with assault under that name and cuffed to a wheelchair for an X-ray, police said.

But while cops were distracted by paperwork, Stewart decided to check himself out of the hospital - and escaped.

Stewart was captured later after the man he bit told cops his real name and detectives confirmed it through mug shots taken during previous arrests.

Stewart was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail with bond set at $60,000.

Tyson horrified the boxing world in 1997 when he bit Evander Holyfield's ear during a title fight.
