The French government is one of few governments that does not recognize the use or practice of surrogacy. One of their top cases is refused to give citizenship to children a French couple who advocated an American woman to be a surrogate mother of their twins. The couple went to court to amend the ruling so that their twins be known with French nationality. The lower court refused to inscribe the twins in France's civil register, which is the basic requirement for obtaining essential documents in France including identity cards and passports. The Court of Cassation then also upheld the lower's court ruling where the couple's twin daughters were born to the American surrogate mother whose natural parents are French citizens. The ruling stands and the twins will not be recognized as French and will not receive French citizenship as "native- born" in France.

"That's too bad...but many people don't agree with the terms or the acts of using
surrogates for childless couples." It show's there is one nation I didn't know that upheld laws against giving citizenships to those who choose to use the surrogate practice.

It's interesting...`O_O` I'm a world watcher.

It seems parochial to me and that the French are deeply closed minded when it comes to infertility issues. Geez you would think that they would have some bit of leniency since the surrogate mother parents are French citizens.
