@Rich, you are so correct on this and I do hope you can get to pull it up on your computer and get to see it...It seem the Freemason's got started with the knights Templars who first went to fight against those in the middle-east to save Christianity...and as we should know the knowledge gained there about science put and end to the Dark Ages and brought in enlightment by way of science, enlightment and democracy...
The scientist who found how gravety works was a Freemason, as was Ben Franklyn, it helped cause the French Revolution oh and George Washington ...as were most or all of our forefathers seem to realize Church and State could not exist in teh same space in a Democracy.
And, Rich what "I" found most interesting with the FreeMason's organization was / is it's ability to CHANGE to fit in with the time and the society and enviornment at THAT TIME. (smile)
The HI newtork has a series on teh 7 Deadly Sins also...last night they ran the 5th Deadly Sin, the sin of GREED. It was good. (smile)

I didn't watch it BUT I do know that the freemasons were a serious religious group that we would call DEISTS. They did believe in an omnipotent and universal Creator. However, they were not strict christian believers in any sense of the word, including attending church.
Their beliefs were pretty close to what we would understand as Buddhism!
How about that!!!
