AWESOME: REP. ELLISON STUMPS REPUBLICAN BY ASKING WHEN RYAN’S PLAN WOULD BALANCE THE BUDGET April 15, 2011

This morning, the House debated the budget proposal put forth by the Congressional Progressive Caucus, a response to the budget drafted by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI). During the debate, CPC member Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) asked Rep. Todd Rokita (R-IN) when the Ryan budget would balance and create a surplus. After hemming and hawing for a few seconds, Rokita ultimately couldn’t come up with an answer.

ELLISON: When does the Ryan budget create a surplus?

ROKITA: The budget proposed and voted on by the committee — [...]

ROKITA: With responsible, gradual reforms to the drivers of our debt, like Medicare and Social Security, this budget will balance –

ELLISON: I asked the gentlemen when the Ryan budget created a surplus. He could have given me a year. He didn’t. That’s because he’s probably embarrassed about when that is. Let me tell you when the Progressive Caucus comes to surplus: 2021. That is known as a responsible budget.

The answer to the question is that the “courageous” and “innovative” Ryan budget would create a surplus for the first time in 2040, according to the Congressional Budget Office. An analysis by the Economic Policy Institute, meanwhile, determined that the CPC budget would indeed turn a $30.7 billion surplus in 2021, nearly two full decades ahead of Ryan’s “bold” plan.

Go Keith, GO!!!

The man stood his ground and made of fool of his colleague--who was trying desperately to defend an indefensible position.

Watch and enjoy. You don't see this all that often.

Right!

And now they are going to have defend it.

It will be fun watching them talk in circles and avoid admitting what is plain as day. We'll see how far they get trying to claim 2 plus 2 really equals 5.

Rich, the main problem with those on teh right is they can't come off of their talking points because then they are going to get it comming or going. example,

If they go off the talking point and dare try to show they are not brain dead, then they are deemed disloyal...but now they have the teaparty at their front door and demands for the media to answer their questions at their back door and the campaign has not even offically started and with now Michelle Bachmann is going to have to come up with something much more duh than donald Trump has done to get the lead at this time.(smile)

And, poor Paul Ryan "I" am sure is wishing he had not done what he did just as Governor Scott Walker wishes he had not believed he was going to be the darling of the party going up against the unions...(oh and by the way by the next election I will have a second grand child voting for the first time. Take that right-wingers for forgetting about family will protect family.(otfl) (smile)

OH, OH I WISH I HAD NOT DONE THAT IS ALWAYS TOO LATE. LOL(SMILE)
