What to Say When A Colleague Makes the Mistake of Saying You Are Suppose to Work Hard

Jen Fad · Monday, April 25th 2011 at 4:51AM · 442 views
The other day, my dear sweet colleague (being sarcastic) assigned me patients on opposite ends of our unit which isn't a short distance. My argument was that either I'm on one side or the other, not both. And besides, I told her that I worked hard the day prior; her comment: "You're supposed to work hard." I went to her and told her that I resented her comment; furthermore, I'm always given "crappy assignments" without complaining. She didn't qualify or clarify her statement so I stated,

"My people have been emancipated and I'm NOT a Slave. The entire unit went silent.

What do you suppose was the reason for their silence? Hmmmm?

@ Sister Irma,
Sometimes folk need to be reminded, eh?

@ Saint,
She was in charge. Needless to say, I corrected her error.

There's always a place or a time for sarcastic remarks --as a for her long silence...well it was perhaps time for her to be silent.

Hey Jen:

WHAT??? You mean to tell me that you can't be in two places at once???

Joking aside, good for you!!! You got to stand up for yourself.

Sounds to me like you all work too hard!!! The first thing that happens in stressful environments is people get on each other's nerves.
